Question: Questions regarding alienware laptops?
(Posted by: Bob1031 on 2010-02-10 04:40:32)
In terms of gaming capabilities, Alienware laptops are no doubt the king. But can anyone tell me how they fare with other apps aside from gaming? How about working with documents, worksheets, etc.? Basically, anything that is related to work or the like. Thanks! @Paul: Thanks a bunch! :D |

Gaming machines says it all. Nothign will tax a computer like a game will, so if you have a high performance gaming machine it will run just about anything else with ease. GL |

Gaming is the most resource demanding application a computer can use. If your computer can handle games easily (which Alienware laptops certainly can) then it can handle anything without a problem. I am currently typing this on my Alienware laptop, and the thing is amazing (even though it's a 4 year old one). I have used other applications such as Rosetta Stone and the gimp and they work fast and without any problems. |

I'm going to disagree right now with every comment here. As a computer expert, Alienware are great gaming machines. For work though they are bad for 2 reasons. One is that they are way too powerful for your usage. They exceed the normal use of work. That's not to say there a bad laptop, just that that's not what Alienware is built to do. Also, these systems are Dell. Dell is very bad in terms of business. Hard drives go, operating systems fail, you name it. They are usually not reliable laptops. Hp or Asus offers great all-around machines that work better then an Alienware for this type of work. Good luck! Note: This is not to say that Alienware is incapable of doing these things, it's just to say that work wasn't really in mind when building the systems. |
