Question: Asus laptop shuts down when power cord is inserted?

I just got a new ASUS P501J- X3 laptop. It works fine, except that while it is running and the power cord is inserted, it shuts down. When I restart it, it says that Windows did not shut down correctly. What's going on with my laptop?

Maybe the power supply, or a bad cord, or the wrong cord.

Your power cord is defective. You need a replacement. Sometimes when the power cord is defective, it will mess with your computer. For some, their mouse pad and keyboard doesn't work, and for others it shuts down.
