I have an Averatec 3200 right now and I am less than pleased with it. Ineed to replace it soon and I am wondering what are the most practical and inexpensive laptops out there? I need something under $1200 and can handle my daily commute. what are you suggestions?

Just the basics every college student would need. But I've been looking and no laptops seem to come with a full version of Microsoft Office they all offer trials. I will be going to college this fall and I really need a laptop for it. This laptop will be my main computer since I dont want to take my desktop with me. I would like a large screen because im going to have to look at it a lot. It will probably have to last me four years so I want the top of the line right now but try to keep it under $3000 . I will be studying engineering and so this laptop will have to be able to handle anything i would need under that field of study. I was thinking about either a mac but im not so sure i like them that well or maybe a dell xps or alienware. I am open though to any other suggestions if they are better. Please dont give me any personal opinions such as ones saying that you think your laptop is the best because you have it. Dont bother posting such trash I want solid evidence. Thank you.

I currently have a Toshiba Satellite and I've very happy with how everything works, but I need an upgrade since its a bit old. I'm lookin for good memory, good battery, and light. Anything you personally know that fits the criteria? i need a new laptop. i bought a basic dell about 3 years ago and its just not cutting it anymore. its slow and freezes all the time causing me to restart it.so, i start college in the fall. i'm going for vet medicine so nothing tech ey. i need a fairly basic computer. fast. wireless internet. don't care about screen size. needs microsoft word and stuff at least compatible doesn't need to be installed. doesn't really need games as long as i have solitare lol. umm i watch a lot of videos but don't really need anything special for that..so what would be the best? i don't have an exact budget in mind but i dont really want to spend toooo much. so best value for my money? thanks

yah im going to college next year, and am laptop shopping, my total budget is $1510, go grad gifts and i wanna get a laptop, printer, and warrenty protections services. i want it to be fast, durable, and versital. ive been looking and im thinking a Macbook, cause it also has music progams standard, and im a music minor front man and guitarist in a band. My only concern is that i grew up with PC's and my parents are afraid of the learning curve, and is it compatible with their computers? than the other one ive been looking at is Sony Vaio CR Series, just cause its a pc and sony seems like a reliable company....so i need all the help i can get. thanks in advace
