Question: What are the best laptops for college?
(Posted by: ~xNatx~ on 2010-08-27 07:30:54)
Hi everyone, I'm going to be a freshman in college and I'm interested in either buying a laptop from HP or Apple. So I'm wondering which one is better? I have an HP laptop now that I share with my sister that we bought in May but since I'm going to college I obviously need my own laptop, so should I buy the same one that I have now or a Macbook Pro? Thanks for your time =). |

Depends on what your needs are. A well-taken care of Windows laptop can last for years, and you'll probably want to upgrade to a newer one before it completely dies off anyway. Macbook Pros are great computers, but they're overkill (imho) if you only need it for basic tasks. You might also want to make sure that your college doesn't have platform requirements. Some college faculties will require you to purchase an Apple computer (sometimes from the school itself) for your studies, while others will run programs that are only Windows compatible. Find out what your needs and school requirements are, create a budget and narrow down your options. Not everyone who goes to college needs the same laptop. |

I would think Apple (for reliability), but you could check your college. Their IT-support people might have a preference for a particular type of computer, and optimise all their software, etc. for a particular platform. |

Definitely get the Macbook. Though they're more expensive, a Macbook will last you much longer than an HP laptop. Plus, they're more reliable than any other laptop you can get. Macbooks are faster, safer, and in general, better. They're less likely to get infected with a virus than anything with windows. Because of this, you're less likely to have your files randomly erased by a virus. Trust me, it's worth spending the extra money to get a Mac. |

MAC would be best option for you. but make sure you won't addict to it. concentrate on your studies simultaneously..... |
