Is it possible to build a laptop from scratch like a desktop PC?
I recently want a new laptop, and wondered if I can build one myself to save some money. I'm not very sure, can anyone tell me if it's possible, and if it is, where to buy parts? Thanks

by scratch i don't mean a barebones kit i mean literal scratch as in sheets of silicon, sheets of aluminum, steel, electricity, copper wiring, and plastic. no bs, just answer if you know. otherwise ignore this it's spam. spam.com i want to know how the copper wires are arranged while building the cpu and do you just shine uv light through a mask of a grid or is there suppose to be a special pattern in the mask. if there is what is it or how can you come up with one. also where can you get flux? also what photo resist do they use when etching the silicon wafer?

I've looked everywhere on Google to build a laptop, but they only give me recommended laptops where I can customize it afterwards. I feel like I'm not customizing it enough with the base specifications. I want to pick each major part, and if possible it's own case and all that. I've looked at laptops without customization and most of them don't include SSD which is a deal breaker to me. Any help?I've been told this is not possible, but I could customize a laptop. So which brand or manufacturer is good for me to look at? Remember SSD is a must and I need something that isn't bulky like an alienware gaming computer.

My old HP Compact Presario V5000 took a power surge and it killed the MB I plugged a monitor into the laptop and got nothing . I'm building a laptop from scratch. Does Vista come with "add-ons" (aol, etc.) if straight from the box?
Every OEM PC maker sends it with all kinds of garbage software you don't need, which can be uninstalled, but there's still a lot of files left I'm sure are not needed. For a really clean build I want to install just the OS. Other than I.E., would Vista from Microsoft box have any of that? I've never bought it other than on my OEM computer.

I am wondering how difficult it would be to build a laptop from scratch. I have built plenty of desktops and am very knowledgeable with the hardware in a laptop but have never built one completely from scratch. From what I have heard most of the parts have to be soldered which I can do . But I would like to know from people who have tried how difficult this may be.
