Where can I go to build a laptop from scratch?
I've looked everywhere on Google to build a laptop, but they only give me recommended laptops where I can customize it afterwards. I feel like I'm not customizing it enough with the base specifications. I want to pick each major part, and if possible it's own case and all that. I've looked at laptops without customization and most of them don't include SSD which is a deal breaker to me. Any help?I've been told this is not possible, but I could customize a laptop. So which brand or manufacturer is good for me to look at? Remember SSD is a must and I need something that isn't bulky like an alienware gaming computer.

How to build a laptop?
I have an old Sharp laptop from 1996 and I think it would be really cool and a little funny to totally upgrade it to be a powerful computer. Almost everything would need to be changed. I don't think any of the parts inside, would be useful at all, not even the battery. Is it possible to do this kind of thing? How would I find a motherboard that would fit and work in it? If it isn't possible, could buy a modern laptop that is the same size and replace it's body with that of the old Sharp laptop? I have searched for information about doing this kind of thing, but all I can find is about making a laptop from a DIY kit. That isn't what I'm trying to do though.

Can anyone build a laptop or desktop?
I've been wanting a new pc for a while and I don't exactly have a big budget but I'm in new rush to replace my old but still working laptop. I wanted something with decent performance and that can be upgrade when needed and therefore would hopefully have a long lifespan. The more I looked in to it the more I hear about people just buying parts and building there own PC form scratch exactly how they wanted it.How complicated it this process and should it be attempted by a amateur? If you think I am capable of this then can you recommend a web page or book to gather some information before I start spending money on bits.

Where can i get the components to build a laptop?
I need to know where I can get the motherboard, disc drive, hdd, case, cpu, etc.I need to know a website...... nothing like " you need about a million to start your own brand"

I want to build a laptop cooling stand. Should it blow or extract?
I would like to build a laptop cooling stand. Should the fans I use be sucking air away from the laptop or blowing air onto the laptop? My laptop gets very hot and it needs strong cooling fans I think.

Is it hard to build a laptop?
I was planning on buying a laptop for around $550 I was looking at an Acer with an i5 processor and 4gb of ramThen I thought what if built my own? Assuming its cheaper as your only paying for parts and not labor I could use the extra money to buy more ram or a faster hard drive.I'm just wondering is it hard to make your own laptop? About how much money are you saving? Do you have any suggestions for parts like good brands, or maybe just what you've done in the past as far as building a laptop. Any help, tips, sugggestions, or guides will be greatly appreciatedI want at least an i5 processor, at least 4gb of ram and at least a 200gb hard drive I have an external terabyte that I could hook it up to if needed , 15.6 inch screen, decent graphics...I'm not gonna be doing alot of games, but I'd like video streaming from YouTube or Netflix to look nice. And decent battery life at least 4 hours??Would I be better off just buying a premade one from Costco or an electronic store that sells laptops?

Is it possible to build a laptop from scratch like a desktop PC?
I recently want a new laptop, and wondered if I can build one myself to save some money. I'm not very sure, can anyone tell me if it's possible, and if it is, where to buy parts? Thanks

Would it be better to build a laptop than buy one for college?
That way, i can make it really powerful and able to run fun games and stuff AND be really powerful for general everyday use. Overall cheaper? potentially? to run a game like.. iono... modern warfare 2. or guild wars 2. when it comes out. y'know, triple A title at many FPS lol

Build a laptop, or just buy one that is ze question?
Hey I am going to be getting a laptop for college and i was wondering if I should build my own or get one from a company. I will be using it for gaming, has to have a17" screen, so im looking more towards ASUS. The reason I dont know if i should build one is because of limited parts and the fact that im kinda shit in tight spaces so the guts of a laptop would be hell for me to put together. Im looking for a 900 1100 that can run most games on mid high, if possible. I would be willing to go higher. Im asking this here so i can get answers without going to a million sites while at work so dont send me a link to newegg or tigerdirect. I will be searching both sites but i was looking for a place to search instead of spending the time myself cause hey im a gamer...faster better...It also doesnt have to be pretty, ill be getting some razer equipment so idont care about backlit keyboards, also no alienwares....they are to expensive

Building a laptop charger?
i do have a adjustable dc power supply 0 30 . i do have a proto board breadboard and i do have a cord that can plug into my laptop from the proto board. the laptop runs on 19v 2.64 amps. i figured simply using ohms law i would get what i need, but no that didn't work, my resistors are just burning up. cant i just build a simple circuit to run the laptop.

Hey im building a laptop and need help with an OS?

Building a laptop from scratch?
I am wondering how difficult it would be to build a laptop from scratch. I have built plenty of desktops and am very knowledgeable with the hardware in a laptop but have never built one completely from scratch. From what I have heard most of the parts have to be soldered which I can do . But I would like to know from people who have tried how difficult this may be. If you have any advice links to by laptop cases shells parts please include them and I will check them out Thanks
