Where to buy laptops for overseas developing community?
A charity organization I am helping out with was looking for laptops to purchase to provide for a developing community in Africa that they are working in. I was wondering if you had any recommendations on what to buy or where to buy from. I know there are a good number of used and refurbished laptops on amazon and ebay for around $150 $200. And I also looked at the OLPC one laptop per child XO laptop which can be purchased for around the same price on ebay. Why do people buy laptops?
Most of the laptop owners that I know don't even take their computers outside of their home, so why do they waste their money buying those overpriced, underpowered things when they could just buy desktops? I understand why a laptop might be useful as a secondary portable computer, but there's almost no way I that could use one as my main machine.

Cannot install windows on my newly bought laptop HEEEELP?
WAHTEVER I do I get the same error message " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key Its like it doesnt find the boot device BUT THERE IS I tried it from a DVD and set primary boot device to the ODD optical disk drive also tried to install from a usb HDD with nothing else on it but the windows install files and still I get the same error message. I know nothing about computers. What do I look for when buying a laptop? I have internet via a cable modem but will upgrade to WiFi cable modem . As far as gigabytes or gigahertz what the difference? What about processors? I go to school online and also download a lot of music. What would you suggest? Oh, I want to spend as close to prefer less than $500. Which should I buy?Laptop or Desktop?
Im thinking of buying a new computer sometime next month but im not sure what to get. I really want a laptop because of its portability nd less power consumption but i am not sure if laptops are more durable or, will last more than desktops. I just want my computer to last atleast 3 4 years without major problems, also i've heard if anything in laptop fails then the whole thing is as good as trash. Is that true? which parts of a laptop are replaceable and how costly will the replacements be? I've recently had my eye on a dell 15r N5110 i7. will it be good?
