Sometimes I see offers for free laptops to pick it up because people dont need it anymore. But those laptops are so old that you could only use Notepad.... So you're gonna have to save up some money.

Economically speaking usually something with intrinsic value (equal to that of a product) is exchanged for goods and services, be it money or a service preformed. You don't. You buy one, or you look at various sites like craigslist for free ones, which are usually old and/ or have problems with it). Don't expect to get the newest laptop on the market with Windows 7, and if you do get a laptop, consider yourself lucky.
