Question: Is there really such thing as a free laptop?

I am going to be a senior in high school this fall. I would like to have a laptop for use for school projects and such. I tried a web search but all of the results were for laptops that require me to sign up for offers. Is there a website where I can get a free laptop? Is anyone looking to get rid of a laptop and don't mind mailing it to me?
