Question: I have an old gateway laptop...?

Im afraid that the old hardware is just not handling the new updates, such as SP3, where can i found out what i have to update or replace? It is a gateway notebook MX series.

I have no idea about your laptop's hardware specifications. I am not sure about your technical aptitude. These are my recommendations, not in order .... 1) Upgrade RAM to highest possible in your laptop 2) Upgrade to a SSD Hard drive 3) If not upgrading your hard drive, then format it after you backup everything. You have XP, try to get hold of XP lite. This is stripped down version of the the hungry OS. It will put less toll on your hardware. 4) Uninstall any antivirus, these slow your laptop down. just be careful not to download randoms, from untrusted sources. 5) Get Win 7 if you have at least 2 gb ram and a processor above 1.5ghz. 6) Sell your laptop on ebay, add $200 from pocket and upgrade to a newer one.
