My HP laptop is booting up REALLY slow?
Hey, my laptop has been having some very long boot times. When the HP logo comes up on the screen when I turn on the laptop, it takes forever to leave that, sometimes longer than 5 minutes. I'm not sure what the problem is, when it gets to the windows bar loading, it takes about 2 swipes and it gets to the vista logo and starts up in a couple of seconds. I have a 2.1ghz processor, 3 GB ram and 250 GB hard drive. Is there any program that can check this out and tell me whats wrong?
I have an HP laptop series G60-121WM, and I need some help/ advice.?
It crashed in a major way meaning the hard drive went kaput Anyway we had it replaced, and did the system recovery disk bit, and now the program MS Works will not work. It is a mystery to me and I would like to use the software featured on the laptop, but I don't know how to fix it. I know that a professional should look at it, but right now I can't afford it. Does anyone know of anything that can be done in order to fix these problems that I might be able to do? Besides the recovery disks made when first purchased I don't own any other software for this computer. I have asked the Hp people for a copy of the Windows version Vista but the only reply I have gotten is that I need to purchase the copy. I can do a few things on here as far as repair so I am not completely computer illiterate, but I'm no computer doctor either. At the very least can anyone direct me to the nearest fix it web site that may be able to help me? Or maybe give me a link to a good free word processor?I forgot to include the fact that every time I try to open MS Works I get a pop up window that states Windows Explorer has stopped working.
How Do I Install My HP Laptop's Battery?
I have an HP Compaq Laptop, a few months ago its battery stopped charging itself, I took it to my local computer store who tested the battery and told me I needed a new one. I made sure of the correct model number and bought a new battery from ebay. That arrived and I attempted to install it.The laptop " changes its mind" about the new battery. At the moment it says 100 % charged. Other times it says various percentages of battery strength and sometimes it says its charging, and other times gives me the " plugged in, not charging" treatment. Regardless of what the laptop says, the battery cannot run the laptop for any length of time.If I disconnect the charger even for a second the laptop loses power. This is obviously incredibly annoying because I can't use my laptop on the move. I've tried a few " fixes" I've found on the internet such as making sure the system bios is up to date, and reinstalling the power management in device manager but none of this seems to make any difference.I have noticed over time that the battery can keep the laptop on for about ten seconds if the laptop is closed and " asleep" , which it couldn't do when I first got the new battery, if I try to boot the laptop without the charger attached it can run off the battery for a few seconds.I am out of ideas and would appreciate some help if anyone knows what to do.
