I need help purchasing a laptop. No more than 1000 dollars. Must be a well- known brand. Laptop must have a webcam also. Gaming, Internet browsing, word processing I mean playing games like Sims3.

Probably the best and most reliable brands are Asus, Toshiba, and Apple. I would strongly advise against HP, and for that matter, Dell as well. Even Mac OS X will easily run all those programs, like the Sims 3. It really comes down to what you want the most and what you really need. As I said, either of those brands is very reliable, you really can't go wrong.

What are your needs? Are you just listening to music, browsing the web and writing word documents? Or are you gaming or watching HD video. All of that will determine which one you should buy. How often are you going to be taking it places too? I need more info. There's no one size fits all laptop.

What kind of gaming? For some people "gaming " means needing a graphics card with more power than NORAD, and for others it means the ability to run a Flash plug in.

Here's one you should definitely consider (free shipping): amazon.com/ gp/ product/ B00352LQYO?ie= UTF8 &tag= a00ba7a-20 &linkCode= as2 &camp= 1789 &creative= 390957 &creativeASIN= B00352LQYO Whats so special about it? its got the new Core i5-430M 2.53GHz, which is much more faster than Pentium & Core 2 Duo, 500GB Hard Drive, 4GB DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT325M, 16-Inch HD LED LCD Display etc. It comes with a 2.0 Mega Pixel web camera and it can definitely play Sims3 without hiccup and according to a 3-year survey ASUS laptop is highly reliable. engadget.com/ 2009/ 11/ 17/ laptop-reliability-survey-asus-and-toshiba-win-hp-fails/ But what's truly unique about this laptop, is that it has the new "NVIDIA Optimus technology ". Currently only ASUS's limited laptops has this technology directly from Nvidia. As this laptop has 2 graphic chips, the powerful (GT325M) & the weaker Core i5 on-board graphic. This technology allows your Battery to last longer, by automatically switching between them when needed. eg. When gaming, the GT325M is used, but when internet browsing or word processing the on-board graphic is used instead. Because dedicated graphic like GT325M consumes more power, even just sitting there, automatically turning it off when not in use makes good sense. You can find out more here: usa.asus.com/ product.aspx?P_ID= RZGwDN2NnWZ7NhbH It also comes with: 2 year hardware warranty 1 year battery pack warranty
