Question: What is the recovery partition in my hp laptop?

Recently got a new HP Pavilion laptop and there is a partition in it called as 'Recovery "...what exactly is this and what should I do with it? Can anyone help me with this! ...

It will reinstall your operating system if your computer crashes >or you have any other problems and need to reinstall your os

It is where the computer stores all of the data that is required to do a system restore. This partition needs to be burned to a set of CD's or DVD's.

Glad you asked this question :) I would strongly recommend not to tamper with this partition. All OEMs when they build a laptop, they create a partition on your hard drive which is ideally locked for use. This contains a copy of your Operating system, Device Drivers and all other stuff which can be used to restore your computer back to the state when you first switched on your computer after you received it. The other issue is that if you format it or delete it and try to get HP's technical support and there is a need to restore your OS, they will not help. You should ready your warranty terms carefully. It contains factory installed os and programs. it will help you,when your system get some problems. you can restore your system with factory install programs.dont delete this partition at any time. open start menu then go to system recovery manger(specialy came with hp laptops) then backup our system recovery partition.it needs three or more dvd's. to run system recovery(recommended when system strongly affected by problems) press escape when hp screen appears then select system recovery and select option from computer hard disk. i welcomes you for choosing hp laptop.
