Question: Can i purchase a italian plug for my hp laptop that can plug into its us adapter?

I have a HP Compaq nc8430, it has a standard plug with a huge AC adapter. I use my laptop everyday so when i travel to Florence this fall, i know it will be the main item i need an adapter for. Instead of buying a standard bulky adapter for it, i was wondering if i could find a plug cord with an Italian plug(EU?) that I can just attach to the AC adapter i already have.

Yes, you can buy a chord with an Italian plug and connect it to your AC adapter (which I suppose as usual can cover all the V and Hz range so it can work worldwide). I'm just now using a laptop made for the UK using an italian chord instead of the original British one. If you want to look for it when in Italy, you can find it starting from a couple of Euro up to more than 10 (just if they're "original " HP, but there's no real difference or safety issue).

Yes you need to buy a travel adapter kit that has all the necessary adapters to convert US current to any foreign current. Look at any computer store or here frys.com
