Somewhere along the reformatting process it had a problem. Windows explorer is everything you see on your laptop. This means the task bar, icons, windows, etc. If it crashes, it should automatically restart (you will notice the icons and desktop "refresh " with a blink or 2). I would recommend you reformat it again and make sure nothing goes wrong. As for the recovery disks you made when you first got your laptop, those are it. Those should have the programs needed for your reformat. As HP said, and it is all over their policy, you would need to purchase a new one if you need it. I would first reformat and then purchase a new one if I still need it. Also, back up your files to another computer before you reformat. This is a device that allows you to do so: topmicrousa.com/ bt-300.html You connect the old hard drive to this device, and then the device to a another computer or laptop via USB. You would then be able to access all the files on it. I got the device off a PC World Magazine Article. Best of luck! |
