What can I do about my laptop ac adapter overheating?
I own a Gateway NV53. I received it as a Christmas present last year. I'm now on my third laptop charger. My first one, the one that came with it, caught a small fire on the wire. It burned through it. I bought a new one. The next one overheated and literally was almost melted when I pulled it out. it was bending like rubber the metal part that goes into the port . I molded it back and it worked for about the next 5 hours. Then when I used it later on it stopped working. I'm on my third one that I just received today. This one needs to be moved around a bit for it to work. I'm not sure if it's the port or the ac adapter that's not working. However, my ac adapter, just like all the others, is overheated when I take it out. My charging method is simple I charge it when my battery life is at about 10 % and when it reaches 100 % i unplug it. I don't want to keep wasting my money on chargers because they keep overheating. Is there anything that anyone can suggest to help me? Whether it be for the port or ac adapters. I don't think I have a warranty by the way.each adapter that i've purchased is a different one. not the same one. the one that caught on fire was the one that came with the laptop.
What makes my laptop ac adapter so very hot?

Toshiba laptop ac adapter issue?
I have a toshiba a205 s4777 laptop that has a problem with it's power. if i run the laptop on battery, without connecting the ac adapter, it would run fine. if i plug in the adapter while it is running on battery, it will freeze as soon as i plug it in. and if i keep it plugged in and then turn on the laptop, it wouldn't boot at all. i have heard that toshiba laptops have power issues like this a lot and the only way to fix this is to discharge the current that is stored inside the motherboard. i have tried it by holding the power button for more than 30 seconds but the problem still exists. i know switching the board would work but i want to fix it so that i can learn a few things in the process. i need expert advice please
Are laptop ac adapter/powercord laptop spefic?
I have recently got a used acre the battery wouldnt charge so i plugged it in. It worked for awile but still didnt charge the battery now if i unplug the cord the computer works with very little juice in the bAttery so i plugged in other ac adptors and nothing works
My laptop AC adapter sometimes just turns off when I'm playing a game?
I have a Rocketfish AC adapter for my laptop and whenever I play a game on this comp, the ac adapter sometimes just turns off and stops charging my laptop. when this happens i have to unplug it and re plug it in for it to work again, and then this repeats. the adapter does get pretty hot at times, is this the problem? if so, what can i do to fix this and prevent this from happening??this only happens when I play a game
Will using lower Input Amp for laptop AC Adapter harm my computer?
My laptops AC Adapter has bit the dust I need to buy a new one, but cannot find one that has the exact same specs as my original. Do warranties cover laptop AC Adapters?
My laptops AC Adapter and Battery have both stopped working I am guessing the AC Adapter that they gave me with the laptop burned my battery 10 months after I bought the laptop.Now my laptop has a 12 month warranty the regular warranty you get when you buy electronics So will this warranty actually allow me to ask them for a new battery and AC Adapter?I got the laptop for 350 and a new genuine battery and Adapter would set me back around 120 100 I don't want eBay fakes because I heard they might blow up or start a fire ...So should I just call them do I have a good chance of getting a replacement?
Lenovo/IBM Laptop AC Adapter - Technical Question?
Im trying to test my AC adapter with a multimeter yes i know how to use one im a computer technician . My question is are IBM Lenovo power adapters controlled by the laptop, do they even put out a voltage if they aren't connected to the laptop? This is the second IBM AC adapter ive tried to test but not getting any voltage reading from it, so i suspect either both are broken or they don't even activate unless connected to a laptop. If they are controlled by the laptop, how can i test the ac adapter and no, plugging it in is not an option smart asses lol . Is it even possible?

The laptop charger for my Dell Vostro 1400 broke today. It says it's 65W, 19.5V and 3.34A. I'm looking on Amazon right now at a universal charger that is 90W and also has the 19.5V option. Finding laptop AC adapter jack for custom built laptop (non-branded)?
I do small time local computer repair and have recently had a work order for a VERY old laptop. There is no branding on the computer such as Dell, Gateway, etc.. that I have noticed. I'm looking for a laptop charging jack for the computer. Not the charging cable pack, just the jack just to clarify .I will provide as much information as possible, in hopes any of it can be useful in locating a vendor where I can confidently order a replacement part that will match. I think I know the answer to this question but I was hoping if there is something I can do to prevent that worse case scenario.My laptop adapter doesn't want to work anymore. I got it working for a second when I moved it around but that was about it. I have a couple of questions about this.1. Can I fix it myself and if so, how do I do that?2. Can I use any other Laptop adapter?3. Would it be okay to use a universal adapter?4. Would using any other adapter ruin my laptop.Thank you.
