Do i need a laptop bag or is a sleeve fine?

Question: Do i need a laptop bag or is a sleeve fine?

(Posted by: chained2darren on 2009-11-12 15:25:53)

I bought a macbook last year and was so excited i bought a laptop bag to go with it. after a year of having the macbook, i realized i don't take it as many places as i thought i would so i never use the bag. i was debating selling the bag on ebay, and just buying a sleeve for my macbook and, if i have to, tote it around in messenger bag. is this okay to do if i have the sleeve? the laptop bag can be fitted to the macbook, but the messenger bag is much bigger. would a sleeve protect it? or should i keep the laptop bag?

It's all about risks, if you take the sleeve you dont have to carry the bag around but if the sleeve like breaks and your mac falls to the ground you can bet its done for, are you willing to take the risk for that little extra effort?

A sleeve will protect it. If you don't use the bag that much, just buy the sleeve and sell the bag on eBay.

I have a bag and would never trade it for anything. The extra pockets are most help full

Most sleeves I've seen are too flimsy to truly protect your computer from accidents. Sleeves are mostly to protect the computer from cosmetic damage. If the messenger bag has a compartment especially made to hold a laptop, though, then a sleeve would probably be sufficient inside your messenger bag. But if not, you might want to stick with the bag. Safer that way.
