Are laptops safe in a laptop bag if raining?

Question: Are laptops safe in a laptop bag if raining?

(Posted by: Metal Gear Raxis on 2010-02-24 07:45:35)

I'm a little concerned about my laptop because I'm required to bring one to my CSCI classes, but sometimes it's raining. I wondered if my laptop bag would keep it safe from the rain or If I need to other things to keep it safe.

I would of thought that it would be fine my laptop bag keeps mine dry. But it all depends on the bag. you can always use spray waterproofing on it to increase the waterproofing (the stuff that you use for shoes should be fine)

Depends on the bag and what it is made out of. If it is water resistant material like nylon or treated leather with a good closure to keep water out, it should be fine. That is not to say leave it out in the rain for an extended period of time, but it should have enough protection from the bag itself. If it is not a weather/ water resistant fabric, I would either put the Laptop in something that is weather resistant and then put it in the bag or get a bag that is more weather resistant. I have had mine in the rain in my backpack which is mostly nylon and cotton and it has never had any problems at all.
