How to increase laptop battery life?
I got a used IBM ThinkPad laptop and it is working fine. But I use my laptop at home most of the time means it s used as desktop replacement . I have to take it outside just once a week, every Tuesday and sometimes on Friday that s when I actually need the battery power.They say it s better to remove battery and just plug in the adaptor, when it s being used as desktop replacement . But I m facing a problem I unplug the laptop after it shuts down and when I restart it next day, Invalid Time and Date dialogue box appears. Means I have to reset the date and time each time I restart it after unplugging. However, if I leave the adaptor in power socket with switch on, then it doesn t happen. But again another problem appears I have to keep the adaptor in socket for 24 hours while I barely use my laptop for 2 hours everyday. The AC adaptor gets hot it s normal and I don t feel happy because it means more power consumption.I want to make the battery last longer, so why should I use the battery when I have power supply at home? Now I have some of the following options A. Keep the adaptor ON for 24 hoursB. Remove the battery once I start it, and reinstall it before I unplug it from power socket. It s not very good solution, remove and reinstall it again and again C. Install a nearly dead battery with 5 to 10 minutes backup while using it at home. After 20 minutes, the battery full warning displays, and if I switch it off, the battery doesn t last more than 10 minutes so I keep it on despite warning. However, even if I restart my computer after 10 days, I don t have to reset time and date. It seems perfect I d prefer to replace it once a week instead of doing it twice a day.But I m afraid whether it is harmful for laptop or AC adaptor to leave a dead battery in laptop.So experts What do you suggest?

I have a 2 year old Compaq 610 windows 7 and its maximum battery life on energy saving mode is approx 1 hour and 10 mins. The battery drains really easily for example i was using it once and i said it had 50 mins left of battery left and then 2 mins later its said 20 mins left. I mainly use it for fb and watching stuff online does that affect the battery life? . I usually have it on my lap or my bed i think that affect battery life as well

I recently bought a new laptop yesterday and i used it all last night. I charged it this morning while eating breakfast and after i was done charging i noticed the battery life estimation only said 3 44 while it said 6 hours on full on the box. help

Basically I feel as if my laptop battery is nearly out of its use as everytime I unplug my laptop, it dies straight away. I usually have it plugged in full time due to this and I used to near enough always have it plugged in all the time after the first 4 months of getting my laptop. Laptop battery life problem?
I have a Sony vaio e series laptop. The computer is just over a year old and the battery life has become very bad. I'm lucky to get an hour out of my battery. I have tried to change the settings but nothing is helping, any ideas on what else I could do? I don't want to have to buy a new battery.
Laptop battery life suddenly really short, fan is running very fast and it's overheating?
My HP laptop is pretty normal, but recently it's been overheating really easily even with good airflow and the fan's been going nonstop, and the battery life has gotten very short less than 100 minutes on power saving mode . I've scanned for viruses and defragged just in case it helped it hasn't seemed to . It even does this when it's freshly restarted with no programs open. Overheating has caused it to crash a couple of times when I have had programs open.It just randomly started doing this after I rebooted my computer recently. I can't think as to why it'd be doing this.The fan is noisy and irritating, but it's the battery life I'm a little more worried about.

I currently get about 3.5hrs use Brand new i got 7.25hrs. It holds a charge, for now.What is the recommended percentage to replace L Ion Batteries?Should i buy a new battery MSRP $190 ? i am planning to sell it $500 , originally $2700 and get a better Laptop by Fall 2012.

I have a lenovo, and i heard if you keep your laptop plugged in to charge constantly, it drains your battery, so that it only lasts for like 5 minutes when its not plugged in. If i out my laptop on hibernation, will the battery drain? When i say drain, i mean like only work for 5 minutes while not charging.

i have a brand new HP Laptop and the battery is supposedly 4 hours on a single charge, well i turned on my laptop and it had 100 % battery life but it said it has about 2 1 2 hours of charge left, so i then checked it again and it was on 94 % an dit said it had 4 hours, now its down one percent and says two hours left.wth is going on??????ok now its at 90 % and it now has 5 hours O.ook now its at 90 % and it now has 5 hours O.o

I have a dell inspirion 1545 , it is about 1 year and 8 moths old. I use it a lot , like 1 4 hours a day , both on battery and using charger. Recently the battery has lasted about 1 hour 30 mins , but now it lasts only 1 hour, is my battery going to die soon?even with brightness down , it might only add say 10 mins
