How helpful are laptop cooling pads? Do they actually help a lot? I need something for my gaming laptop

I have a HP and it gets REALLY HOT I need to find a cooling pad for it, the one I have can't keep up. I need one that is heavy duty and will keep it cool. Any suggestions?I use it for gaming and it is a 17 1 2 inch. Also I own a cooling pad already. I would like to build a laptop cooling stand. Should the fans I use be sucking air away from the laptop or blowing air onto the laptop? My laptop gets very hot and it needs strong cooling fans I think.

Powering laptop cooling fans?
I am wanting to build a laptop cooling pad, with a small fan blowing air into my cooling system the intake on the bottom and a large one in the center pulling air away from the RAM. The small fan takes 12v at 500mA. The large one takes a standard USB volts and amps 5.2v and 230mA . I want to run both these fans off a single 12v 500mA power adapter. Can someone tell me what I need to put into the circuit to make this happen?

Today I am going to make my own laptop cooling stand out of aluminium sheet, a very powerful PC fan and an AC adapter. I want to know how effective these stands really are? My PC sits at about 50 degrees Celsius when im just browsing the net or reading ebooks etc, but when I play games it jumps to around 75 degrees, which is pretty damn hot.... So this is my question Will a very strong cooling stand decrease my CPU temp by a noticeable amount?

Hello I have and Alienware m15x and its starting to overheat and shutoff. I have cleaned it out and I am going to buy a laptop cooler does anyone have a good recomendation? The main two things i car about is that it is very quit and that it does actually cool your laptop down. I was thinking about getting the logitech n700 but its 80 bucks My system is going to get overclocked by alienware soon and I just need some insight on which is a quit and cooling laptop pad. Any help or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated Thank you It means the same thing they are called laptop coolers and cooling pads.
Best type of Laptop Cooling Stand/Fan?
I run several things on my laptop which require a lot of power professional video editing software and games such as The Sims 3 , thus making the laptop hot. I have always used a cooling stand to prevent over heating, and the one I currently have it getting a little tired. PSo, I'm looking to buy a new cooling stand for my 17 inch laptop, and am just wondering what the best type is. My current one has 4 fans in and is USB powered, which I prefer over a mains powered one.Should I be looking to get another one with 4 fans, or would a 3 fan one work just as well? What about the ones with just the one big 7 inch or so in the middle of the cooler? Are these better than the ones with 3 or 4 smaller fans?What about the position of the fans would that make any difference to the effectiveness? My current 4 fan cooler has 2 fans at the top, and 2 fans at the bottom. The 3 fan coolers that I've seen have 2 at the top and 1 at the bottom. I've also seen some with 3 fans in a single line, running across the middle of the cooler.So... yeah. Just looking for some direction as to which is the best type, and what I should be going for.

I resently bought a Dell Inpiron N511015.6 Screeni7 2670qm 2.2gz8 gb ramgt 525m1TB driveI'v already started playing Starcraft 2 at high settings, and pla on more heavy games and video editing in highschoolI decided that i should get a cooling pad to help cool my laptop, but all the ones i find have fans in the wrong locationsDoes anyone know of a cooling pad that can help keep my laptop cooler?
