I need to know what the point is of having one.I've seen some on Ebay but dont actually what they're for
Is it possible to hack a laptop docking station to work with an unintended laptop?
I recently found a Dell laptop docking station in an alley. Everything is perfectly fine about it, just no power cord. it's this dock weirdstuff.com cgi bin item 18068. I have a Toshiba Satellite R15 S829. What I want to do is hack the docking station to work with my Laptop. The docking port looks the same, the only problem is its in the wrong place, so I would be making a new dock with the components of the original dock and put the port in the right place. I just want to know if it will work when I connect them together after the build or would I just be wasting my time? Thanks
Why is my mouse not recognized when using Dell laptop docking station?
I have a Dell Latitude D420 and I am using its specific docking station. This covers up all of the USB ports. I said " Oh, that's fine because I can use the USB ports on the back of the docking station" but these ports will not recognize my mouse or iPhone. Both of these device are recognized when not using the docking station, so it is not a problem with the devices.Thanks,Jacob F.

Is it ok to unhook my Laptop Docking Station while the laptop is on or does this cause damage? It seems like a pain to shut the whole thing down to unhook it or even put it to sleep . But, I've heard that you should always use " safely remove hardware" when you are removing something.I have a HP DV9000t w Windows Vista professional and I'm using a quick dock that's plugged in via the expansion port.Thanks.
Laptop docking station that supports two displays?
Hey guys,I have been trying to find a laptop docking station that can support two monitor displays. Here is my scenario. I have my laptop now that I use with one vga monitor and one hdmi. I hide the laptop away so there is no trace of it. I have seen docking stations that support two displays but you have to manually connect one of the displays to the acutally computer via vga. I was hoping of finding one docking station that can do two displays without connecting the vga. Just the simple plug and play usb. Any help?

I am thinking about buying a docking station for my HP laptop but I want to use a separate monitor. Would I be able to use it when the computer is shut? I have windows vista if that makes a difference.

I bought a desktop PC from Best Buy that I do not need anymore. They will charge me 15 % of the sale price as a stocking fee if I simply return the item an ask for a refund. However, If I get a replacement item which cost more that the item item that I am returning, the manager might waive the stocking fee. I am planning to get a laptop in exchange to the item I am returning. I however cannot do much if I do not buy a docking station to use with the laptop. Best Buy does not sell a docking station. My question is there any universal docking station that goes with any laptop. Does the manufacturer make docking station for each specific brand? What should I look for when I am buying teh laptop?
Laptop Docking Station?
Recently I've been looking online at these so called 'docking stations' for laptops. My Dad tells me that they are a great way to use your laptop as a desktop PC which is what i want to do because i get so annoyed with my laptops small screen. The only problem is, i don't really understand how they plug in because I've seen some videos on them and they show it plugging into a socket in the bottom of the laptop which my laptop does not have I have a HP G6000 . Also, would i need a certain type of docking station such as HP or would a Dell or Acer one work fine?. Whether there is a USB docking station I don't know, if there is any you could reccomend please leave a link. Also, i already have the keyboard, mouse and monitor for it... all i need is this docking station Thanks.
