Why is my laptop fan always on and loud?
i have an hp pavillion dv5000 and the fan is really loud and embarassing especially when i am at a library. how can i turn it off? or slow it down?

I have just bought the laptop today and have noticed the fan is on constantly. Is this normal? No other laptop I had did this until it was on a long time. or at least I did not hear it Yes I know what the fan is for thanks Cpt Mcmillan. But I wanted to know if this might indicate a problem with the laptop as I thought the fan only comes on when laptop reaches a certain temp.

I have an HP pavilion dv7 notebook, and lately the fan is always on. it NEVER turns off, whether plugged in, on different power settings, etc. It is very annoying because i use it in class and it is distracting

I have a compaq cq60 215dxThe fan is ALWAYS on and ALWAYS loud.Even when I only have Google chrome open...My dumb siblings cover the the fan opening all the time because the fan is placed on the bottom and near the top of the machine, so you really can't hold the laptop on your lap without covering the fan. it's not on the side.is this because i have a crappy computer, or because the fan has been covered up so much that it has messed up the inner part of my laptop?how easy is this to fix?

My laptop fan is always on even if i've just turned on the laptop it comes on pretty much straight away and it can get pretty loud and it's so annoying.It isn't slow or anything and the laptop works fine in itself. The battery life is only 2 3 hours but it's less with me as I like to watch things listen to music which makes it run out quicker. So I try not to have it on charge unless the battery is low but this is quite often.Is there any way I can stop the fan being so loud? I always have my laptop raised on the desk so the laptop doesn't overheat already btw.

I bought my gaming laptop back in April 2009. It is an Asus F50S Notebook. Lately, whenever I run World of Warcraft, my laptop fan gets really loud and always pumps. This was NEVER the case before. I've run World of Warcraft successfully on this machine since April 2009 and I've never had an issue with the fan.I Google'd a couple sites and a lot of them say to CTRL ALT DEL and see which processes are over 10,000 and to set them to low priority. I only have 3 processes over 10k explore.exe 12k firefox.exe 11k and WoW.exe 700k . Will setting Explore and Firefox to Low Priority cause my computer to mess up, or is there another way to successfully run my game without disturbing those around me?Thanks for all the replies. Here is some clarifications.Yes, the problem only exists when I run WoW. When I put my hand near the vent in the front, it is expelling hot air.I do not play on a pillow or the bed my laptop is only played on a table or my desk at home. Right now, I'm currently typing on it at work.My fiancee would like to open my laptop and clean out the fan. Do you think that would help?

i have a compaq laptop and when i turn it on the fan starts when i log in.is there a way to change the temp for when the fan turns onand why does my battery die out so fastbattery goes out in and hour so so
New Laptop Fan Always on and noisy! Help Please.?
Okay about a month ago I bought a new HP Pavilion DV41275mx. Very nice laptop i get around 80 135 FPS in any game or program. But the laptop fan is usually on. Even when i am not running anything. I can turn on my laptop and leave to go make something to eat, Left on the table and elevated because the battery it came with is a 6 hr battery so it sticks out below the laptop and when i come back i find the fan on high and very noisy and the only programs on are my Antivirus, and the usual programs for windows vista. Also if this is relevant, sometimes when i turn off my laptop i try to turn it back on but it turns on and then off again so i have to take out the battery and unplug it and then it is fine again. Should i take it into best buy because i have a 3 year full warranty or is there a way to fix this at home.
