Is it ok to leave my laptop & gps in my trunk during the day? Will it melt / get ruined?
I'm going on vacation and I'm going to six flags and I can't take them with me inside the park. It's going to be 100 degrees outside. What can I do to prevent them from melting and getting ruined. What if I opened my cooler which is going to be in my trunk. Do you think that would help.
Wireless card, Laptop, ... GPS???
My friend and I do some DJ'ing so we got a wireless broadband internet card for his laptop so we can download requests if need be. It works fine. His laptop is pretty nice, runs on Win XP, plenty RAM, Disk Space, quick processor and so forth. Here is my Question Is there a program he can download that will enable it to work as GPS Navigation for when we are on roadtrips??? I mean, its no biggie if it cant because we can always just use yahoo maps or mapquest or whatever, but a computer is a very powerful thing and I told him " I'm sure there's some way to do it " but then I didnt really know where to look. So I'm posting this question, then I'm going to go look while yall answer it. That way maybe someone will mention something i hadn't found. GO

Laptop GPS tracking...with a cellphone?
I've been thinking about alternative ways of tracking a potentially lost stolen laptop...I've been having trouble with Computrace Lojack for Laptops they're working on a fix being incompatible with some of my software and causing Windows errors. What about using a GPS enabled cellphone to track the computer? Verizon has the Chaperone Child Parent service maybe there's a way to get a really cheap small phone and fit it inside the computer somewhere...tie in a modified charger to the laptop's charger port and it could use it's own battery for power and the laptop's power as a regenerative power supply to charge the cellphone when the laptop is plugged in, most cellphones will operate for nearly a week idle on a charge...and laptops usually need charging daily.Thoughts? Good? Bad?I suppose the next step could be a ExpressCard or PCMCIA card that spoofs a micro drive memory and all and has a hidden GPS transciever maybe even use it as a backup memory and then you could use the cellular GPS transciever to recover your important data remotely.Or has this been done somewhere?
Laptop GPS Navigation?
Is there a program that you can use a laptop instead of the hand held GPS systems? Preferably one that you don't have to have a outside device. One that you can just buy, download, and use with the laptop. Any help?
