Laptop Overheating, causing problems?
I have 2 laptops, one of which has major problems. It is a Gateway MT3422.CPUID hardware monitor reports temperatures of the processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core TK 53 1.70GHz around 45 55C idle and the GPU Core Nvidia GeForce Go 6100 60 65C idle. When I do anything that is somewhat graphically intensive the GPU gets up to 80C and sometimes even higher, the CPU temperature also raises to about the same temperature. This sounds a little high to me, and seems to be causing problems. It gets extremely hot and the screen messes up displaying random colors, this also happens when you make a slight movement it. Only thing I and do is hold down the power button to shut it off and let it cool down.I don't know if the over heating is causing it or not, also sometimes it won't even turn on. The fact both GPU and CPU raise to about the same temperature leads me to believe one is causing the other to raise, guessing that both components are close to each other. I may be wrong. I'd appreciate if anyone could help me solve the problem. Thanks DTheir is no FAN on the bottom unlike my other laptop which seems to be a disadvantage, but even without it use to it ran fine and didn't have the heating issue. I also keep it on a flat surface.
Can laptop overheating cause the speakers to stop working?
I've got a MacBook that's about a year old and it's been overheating for about a month now and last week the speakers stopped working. If I plug in head phones it works fine, it's only the internal speakers that's the problem. Any suggestions short of spending an arm and a leg?
Can a laptop overheating cause corrupt sector messages and lost files?
I know that a laptop overheating a lot can cause it to crash. My question is that when this happens, is it common to get corrupt sector messages and missing file messages when windows won't load.Nancy, it is not registry files. That I do know how to monitor and fix. Tim, I have had it about 1 1 2 months. Got it used, actually traded a tower that was not working for it, so I have nothing in it yet. A new hard drive makes more sense than a new laptop. There are no files on it that I need.
