How to solve laptop overheating problems?
I have an Asus g60 notebook. This is a really strong gaming laptop and the general gaming experience on this is great. However, I've run into a problem about a month or so ago. My laptop has been getting really hot when playing games and when even watching videos. Not too sure on the tempature it goes up to. The only way for this to temporarily go away is to unplug it from the charger. After being unplugged, the laptop cools down and tempatures return to normal. The battery on the laptop only lasts for about an hour, so i have very minimal time. Once the battery is about to die, Im forced to start charging, and once again, experience massive heating problems. So, my question is How do i solve this issue with overheating? Also, I've heard about cooling fans and looked into them. From reviews I've read, It seems as if they don't work as advertised.Forgot to mention I already have my laptop elevated about an inch and a half above my table.

What should I do about my laptop overheating/shutting off?
I bought this laptop back in August, which means it's only 9 months old. It's an Acer 5750G 6480 with an Intel Core i3 2310M 2.1Ghz, 3MB L3 cache processor. I think. That's what this sticker says anyways. It has 8 GB DDr3 Memory and 750 GB HDD. There's also something here that says NVDIA GeForce GT 520M, Up to 4095 MB TurboCache. Yesterday I was watching a movie on the computer, and it turned off after about 30 minutes. I did have other things open like several internet tabs, but I also had it on top of a cooling pad. So I turned it back on, and it did it again 20 minutes later after the movie started again. So then I did this, and don't laugh, but I took a bag of frozen peas and put it directly underneath the hottest part of the laptop to cool it down. I left the bag of frozen peas there all day. That seemed to work because I was able to watch the end of my movie, as well as 3 other 2 hour long movies with the peas without it turning off once all day We were having an X men marathon haha .So now it's today, and I work from home using my laptop. It's a call center, so we just have a small window open and all the survey questions come up on the screen. It doesn't take very much to run it, obviously. But then when I opened some internet windows like I usually do when I work and then opened The Sims 3, it shut off after like 10 minutes. I am aware that the sims 3 uses a whole lot of energy, but again my computer is sitting on this cooling pad and it had only been on for a little while. It's very bad when my computer turns off while I'm working as well. Now I'm sitting here with the bag of peas again, and it's working fine but I'm too nervous to open my game or any other internet windows besides this one. I'd like to know why this all of a sudden happening, because I've been working from home since right after I got this laptop and have never had a problem running things in the background PS don't condemn me for playing games while I work It's a boring job . And most importantly, I'd like to know what I can do to fix it. I've searched online a little bit and saw a lot of people saying I might need to clean out a fan or something because of dust. Obviously I have never done that before, I'm not even entirely sure where the fan is. My boyfriend will be able to assist in that if that is the problem though, as long as someone tells me where to find it Are there any other solutions to my problem? Thanks for any answers

Why is my laptop overheating?
I've had my Sony Vaio VGN NW150J since 2009. It has worked fine until recently. I do a good amount of gaming, but nothing too intense. The CPU is a Core 2 Duo T6500 2.10GHz. My GPU is an mobile intel 4 series chipset family. It is always overheating, even when I'm not doing anything. When I play a game, I have to close every single program in order to run the game on medium. Why is my computer overheating?

Why is my laptop overheating so much?
I have an Alienware mx14 with 8 gigs of DDR3 RAM and a Core i7 2720 Qaud Core Processor, and 402 of 500 gigs in use on my hard drive. I used to be able to run many things at the same time and never have to worry about overheating. I still don't seem to be having performance issues it's just that now I'm lucky to get 25 30 minutes of an average game before it shuts down due to over heating. So my question is what's the best course of action? Oh and when I went to the task manager the program svchost.exe is using anywhere from 130,000 to 170,000 Kb of memory. Far more than anything else I have running at start up.

Toshiba Laptop overheating?
Hello, I have a Toshiba Satellite A505 S6033 with an i7 and Nvidia 310m graphics. I am experiencing heavy heating issues with idle temperatures averaging 60 C sometimes climbing up to 90 C idle, before shutting down . Most applications will cause it to climb up to 90 C before shutting down, here is some that frequently cause heating issues Xilinx, Visual Studios, Mplab, games such as Team Fortress 2 and Mabinogi. My laptop is past warranty and had experienced heating issues during warranty as well. I had taken my laptop to Best Buy and Toshiba, both of which failed to fix the heating issues permanently. By the time my third return to Toshiba, the heating issues had stabilized for about a year, bringing us to the present situation where they have returned . I notice the fan works but appears to run only at medium speed even if the temperature rises. I have tried Speedfan to control fan speeds but it does not detect my Toshiba fan I have seen reports of Speedfan not working with many Toshiba models . I have also reduced the amount of power the cpu can use to a maximum of 85 %. When I changed this, I was able to use all of these programs and play games with heating maintained at about 56 C. However, for unknown reasons, after about three weeks, the heating issues returned. I have spoken with Toshiba and they only recommend to take it in for another charged repair. My question is, does anyone know of a Toshiba fan controller or advice to repair the heating issues? As I mentioned, the fan does work, and temporarily was able to regulate heat generation but has suddenly stopped maintaining heat. I rather not take it back to Best Buy or Toshiba as they have not fixed the problem permanently over the last two years I have owned this laptop and charge large fees. Thank you for your helpThank you all for your advice. Cleaning out the air intake has reduced the temperature slightly, but I am still experiencing heavy heating issues. The main generation of heat stems from the CPU. If I can increase the CPU fan speed manually, I will be able to fix this problem. The fan can speed up, as it has occasionally, but fails to notice the increase in temperature and does not kick in when it should. If anyone technically inclined has any advice on this or programs to do this, I would appreciate it. I spoke to Toshiba and they have told me there is no settings in the laptop to do this and Speedfan does not detect my fan. Thank you again to continued help.
