What sort of things can i make out of laptop parts?
My laptop just kicked the bucket. it is an HP pavilion entertainment notebook that my roommate spilled ice tea on... and didn't tell me about it.So after some drying, and a couple days frustration, it worked again and everything seemed to be dandy. Then maybe a week later, it started to spontaneously shut down with intermittent times when the keyboard won't work. I was hoping that maybe it was a software issue since it seemed to be alright a few days before. So I gave it to my college's tech guys to reinstall the operating system after backing up my files as best I could... . They told me there is a mechanical failure somewhere and that they couldn't help me. Instead of getting it repaired, i figured i should spend a little more and get a new desktop something or another. However, i know that there are some pretty sweet things you can make using components from a laptop. Anybody have an good ideas? Can you direct me to sites that give demos or suggestions? D Thanks

ok my daughters laptop is playing up the screen keeps going funny fuzzy and stripy colours they guy at the repair shop said its the wire that connects the screen to the laptop i need the name of this wire and where to by it from also i could do with knowing how to replace this myself as i can really afford to get it fixed by a specialist please any help would be great

I bought a back panel to an msi laptop A6000 and a right side frame and hinge for the same laptop on rkcomputers.comOn each product page it says that the items are nonrefundable. The parts were expensive enough that I will take any money I can get, but would local stores be interested, or some other party because rkcomputers no longer wants them.
Help upgrading my Sony laptop parts?
Ive got a Sony Vaio VGN CS26G and want it to run faster. Currently its completely stock standard and running Vista home premium heres a link to the specs sony asia.com product vgn cs26g sku vgn cs26g t e1 . Ive built, upgraded and tinkered with several PCs before but never a laptop so just dont really know where to start.I guess the laptop isnt that bad with a windows experience rating of 4.3 but compared to my pc which is rated at 7.5 out of a possible 7.9 the laptop is seriously slower so i find myself avoiding my laptop because im so used the lightning speed of my pc lol.Basically i want to know how i can improve the speed and efficiency so any ideas and advice would be great
Can i put laptop parts on a desktop?
I have an old Dell Dimension that is working, but it doesn't have a dvd drive only cd, and the hard drive isn't that large. I also have a Toshiba laptop that i bought like 4 years ago it has a dvd drive and enough memory on its hard drive for me. The problem is the Toshiba laptop broke for some reason I do not know. I was wondering if it is possible for me to replace the cd drive in the Dell Dimension with the dvd drive from the Toshiba. Also the hard drive. If possible I wanted to know if I could replace the ram, i know the ram is a different kind, but could switch the whole entire piece that holld the ram.

I dropped my laptop, but luckily have no functional errors. I'm missing two keys and my black plastic that surrounds the screen has broken in two. Is there anyway that I can fix ONLY these problems?

I'm not sure how it happened, but the front casing part of the screen of my laptop has cracked. the plastic part around the actual screen . I can't open and close my laptop and sometimes if I try to move the top part of the laptop the screen goes black if I ctrl alt delete I can make it come back on? weird . I don't know what this part is called or where to get it online. It's a Compaq Presario C700 Widescreen laptop. Thanks

Ending processes on my Dell laptop....part 2?
I've read if I end many of those........I have 80 running.......it will speed up my computer, it's getting a little sluggish.When I end a process I get a message, telling me if I continue it might make the computer " unstable" . Which ones are OK to end, and which ones should I leave alone?I've run CC cleaner too.....and defrag.....anything else I can do to speed up my laptop?Are local process ones with my name under the " user" column?Dell XPS Windows 7 Intel Core i7CPU 6GB RAM 1.73GHZ

Do you need to clean laptops parts to get rid of dust?
My laptops about 4 months old now and im wondering if its a good idea to get rid of the dust in my laptop? now obviously getting rid of dust and dirt is good but will it really benefit its speed much?
