What is the flexibility of changing laptop parts?
I am going to buy a laptop and was wondering what degree of freedom I get with upgrading parts inside it such as RAM, hard drive, graphics card, CPU, etc . A list of things that are changeable and a level of difficulty one to ten? to change it would be helpful. If it helps I will probably be getting a Lenovo G550 29584PM, but I would prefer an answer that gives a general look on laptops because I could easily change my mind on the exact one. Thanks a lot.
Where should I go to buy laptop parts to build a custom laptop?
Well I built this computer I'm using a while ago, and now have new aspirations to build a laptop for the convenience school, friends, etc... But I've done many searches and have only found sites for a few of the necessary parts. The main thing I'm looking for is the case enclosure for all the parts, whenever I search " Laptop case" , well it only shows laptop carrying cases, even on Newegg. So where should I go to find my parts? And I'm also interested in graphics cards too, cause knowing me I'll probably start trying to get it to be at least able to max out half life 2 Which isn't very hard to do I know .Any help is appreciated.

I want to buy battery, battery charger, keyboard and optical drive for my laptop. When I go to store, they ask for big prices. Why aren't there better standards for laptop parts?
Things like keyboards and touch pads are so similar it would be nice if they conformed to standards so we could swap them out ourselves. Why hasn't the laptop manufacturer industry done anything about that? I found some information about the Common Building Block standard from 2006, but adoption was really limited and it doesn't look like much has happened lately.

I need to find the entire upper portion of an hp pavilion dv4 1275mx laptop. I guess you can call it the monitor of the laptop. I've been searching for quite a while, and I know it's a far fetched idea to even find one...but i still tried. Does anyone know any sites where I could POSSIBLY find this? If not, do you know where i could find the 'frame backcover' of this model and the LCD? Please and thank you.

I have a Toshiba laptop part # PA3715U-1ACA model PA-1750-24. Could I buy JUST the plug in cord, not adapter?
To clarify, my new puppy got ahold of the still plugged in laptop charger. She's just fine, but my power cord is completely destroyed. The AC Adapter box is perfectly fine. The puppy just chewed through the half that plugged into the wall, which from the wall plugged into the adapter, and of course from the adapter it then plugs into my computer. Well, my question is this is it possible to just buy the plug in cord, rather than buying the whole new adapter??? I don't need a new adapter, just a new cord.
