Where should i go to buy laptop parts to build a custom laptop?

Question: Where should i go to buy laptop parts to build a custom laptop?

(Posted by: ...... on 2010-04-01 17:24:18)

Well I built this computer I'm using a while ago, and now have new aspirations to build a laptop for the convenience(school, friends, etc...) But I've done many searches and have only found sites for a few of the necessary parts. The main thing I'm looking for is the case/ enclosure for all the parts, whenever I search "Laptop case ", well it only shows laptop carrying cases, even on Newegg. So where should I go to find my parts? And I'm also interested in graphics cards too, cause knowing me I'll probably start trying to get it to be at least able to max out half life 2(Which isn't very hard to do I know). Any help is appreciated.

Laptops are not quite as easy to custom build as desktops are. That's one reason I don't favour laptops for other than routine use. The only options for a laptop are basically adding memory and a bigger disk drive...(and some other relatively minor things). Most of the other features are built into the laptop and can't be upgraded.

You really can't. There are no custom chassis, and laptops are generally not meant to be reconfigured to save valuable space.

Building a customize laptop might be expensive, it would be better if you purchase a ready made laptop according to your specs as you can sometimes get good high end specification laptops with low prices. So am also providing you some website links which will be really good in getting yourself a good laptop

Laptops are engineered to use minimal space, and the parts are often not interchangeable. You cannot replace the graphics cards of many laptops because they are integrated, and those that are not integrated do not have the space or form to accept another brand card. THe link below explains one way to assemble a laptop. Have you googled for "laptop parts " or "build laptop "? I found a lot of interesting hits. Good luck
