My laptop power supply squeals?
I have a Dell Studio XPS 1640 laptop and it runs just fine. Recently, however, my power supply has begun to squeal. It only happens sometimes and doesn't seem to be affecting anything. All I have to do to make it stop for awhile is to unplug it. Does anyone have a clue what may be wrong?
Difference between input and output on laptop power supply?
I'm living on the road and trying to price out a deep cycle battery for a solar system. The only thing I'm going to use on it really is a laptop. On the back of the laptop power supply it says " Input 100 240 V 1.5A" then below that " Output 19V 3.42A . How do I know which amperage will draw from the deep cycle battery? One is more than twice as much as the other, so I need to know which is accurate so I can purchase the correct amp hour battery. If anyone can explain what the difference is between these is and which would be the correct one to use to estimate draw from the battery, I'd appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
Is a 2 prong laptop power supply dangerous?
My Toshiba Tecra A8 laptop came with a 2 prong power cable. I use this in the UK, and swapped the 2 prong cable for a 3 prong cable. Now my soundcard makes a very loud ground loop hum, so I wanted to change back to the original 2 prong cable. Is this dangerous? Do I have a bigger chance of getting a shock? Do I need to buy a power surge protector? Thanks

Would a DELL 19.5V laptop power supply work with my HP (Compaq) laptop that requires a 19V input?
Or more specifically, would it work without damaging it? The connectors look identical, but the DELL supply is marked as 19.5V and my HP supply is marked at 19V. Do you have any experience with this?
Laptop power supply plug broke, 5amp or 13amp fuse and plug?
Hi there, my Laptop power supply uses a 5amp plug and fuse came with laptop, black plug, 1 plastic tooth .The plastic tooth blade snapped off and I have bought a replacement plug.Problem is that it is a 13amp plug and fuse.I was advised to simply put the 5amp fuse from the original plug into the new plug and take out the 13amp one.Is this safe?Does it matter if I just use the 13amp fuse as there is a 13amp fuse in the new plug I have bought?Basically is there actually any difference in the plastic plug covering and are the actual amps the only things that matter? Can I put a 5amp fuse in a plug that already has a 13amp fuse in it already? The laptop clearly only needs a 5amp fuse and plug but all the plugs in shop were 13amp ones Confused
Are 19 And 20 Volt Laptop Power Supplies Interchangeable?
The Power Adaptor on my laptop is dead and I've been looking for a replacement. The label on the laptop says Input 20V and on the old adaptor, it says Output 20V. However, most of the replacements I have seen that say they are for the model I have are 19V. Will this make any difference? I'm confused and I don't want to blow the laptop up Many thanks for any help you can give.

Question About Laptop Power Supply & International Volts/Amps?
Hi, I'm an American planning on going to Italy for a while, and I want to bring my laptop Sony Vaio PCG 7173L, which I've purchased and used in the U.S. with me. I've checked my power supply, and it has the following info INPUT 100V 240V 1.3A 50 60HzOUTPUT 19.5V 3.9AI'm wondering if I'll have any problems if I purchase a plug adapter simply for the plug, not to change any input or output . Is there a possibility that I could overload my computer with too much electricity? Is there a certain " safe level" of amps or volts that I can stay within? Will I need to purchase a " converter transformer" or similar device?Thank you very much
