Help with HP DV7 laptop repair please?
My ac dc? jack is messed up. At first, it was just that I had to have the adapter cable jack in a certain position, like held up.Now it charges in no position at all. I got it replaced less than 2 months ago, and I have used it in normal using conditions. What should I do? Also, about 2 weeks after I got it fixed, the LED stopped working. No flashing or illumination at all. I don't want to spend another 120 bucks on getting it repaired if I don't have to Thank you. I will try that. I'm pretty sure they only repair it for free if it's just a month's time. Does Best Buy or somewhere like that do repairs? this is because I read that the laptop I have has a notoriously difficult to repair jack.
Shall I have my laptop repaired or shall I get a new one?
I'm not tech savvy about computers so any opinion out there is much appreciated. I have a 3 yr old Acer 5583 WXMi laptop that's having serious problem with the display. Initial diagnosis by a competent technician puts the repair cost at $250 parts & labour . Places that do laptop repairs?
Ok, so the front of my laptop is coming off. I don't have viruses or anything like that. The inside of my laptop is clean. But some screws came out and now when I open my laptop, the front outside comes off a little. I need to know any computer places that do repairs. Like Office Depot, Circuit City, place like that, that could pop in a few screws and keep my laptop intact.

Getting a laptop repaired safely?
My girlfriend has an " xp anti malware" virus on her laptop. She has McCaffre antivirus but I guess it didnt do the job. She mentioned bringing it to her school provided networking serivce but I told her not to. I told her not to because one of her friends did the same thing only to have whoever worked on it...dig up a " private" video that she sent to her boyfriend that she thought she deleted. My girlfriend has sent me stuff in the past and I dont want anybody to be able to have access to them even though they have long been deleted. What are her options? and is it possible that these people can snoop around on her laptop and find these pictures even if they are deleted?

my laptop HP Pavilion dv4 1120us seems to heat up and shutdown every few hours. the fan is also very loud, and running constantly. it feels like i have to air it out or something. and i have to run it on the power cord because it barely lasts a half hour when the battery is in.
Laptop repairs but where?
okay so i have a Toshiba laptop but just recently the AC plug got wiggly and the laptop just wont charge so i was thinking about taking it to best buy where i bought it a couple months ago to see how much it would cost to fix that small problem. Also i heard that some of the geek squad technicians are complete morons and give up after 20 minutes of not knowing what to do so they restore the system and want to charge you over $200 to back up the files but i cant risk that since i have many precious files and pictures on it. Another idea was to send it to Toshiba but i heard it takes way to long to get it fixed and i need the laptop the day after i take it because the average time to fix it is1 2 hours, My last option is going to a small computer repair business since it would be cheaper and they would more likely not go through my files or restore my laptop so tell me what your opinion is.
Laptop Repair Gone bad..?
My laptop crashed, hard drive died, so I took it to this one local computer place and they changed it. But now windows is asking me for a key and the one on the bottom of my comp is not working, the repair place told me to buy a new OS, the one in it right now expires in 29 days AND my computer is a 32bit vista and when i got it back, the computer place installed a 64bit OS. WWill there be any complications with the 64bit installation? and how do i get windows activated? Microsoft isn't helping, and the repair place is hanging me out to dry....
Laptop Repair Question - I've been scammed, what are my rights?
I took my laptop to be repaired at our local computer shop and they had to reseat resolder the graphics chip to the motherboard.They did it, and I paid but then it stopped working again after only a few hours of use.So I took it back in for repair and they said that's fine, its under their service warranty.However, I got my laptop back today and instead of reseating the chip again they have replaced it with a much worse model.It did have a 7600go in and now it has a 6200go. I know it wasn't that fast to begin with but was fine for CAD etc What are my rights?Do I contact an ombudsman and say they are not practising honest workmanship?or Do I bring it in and confront them?Are they legally allowed to change the chip without asking me?Should I get a refund and get it done elsewhere or ask them to get a new chip and put it in?Their website is titancw.co.uk if you want to check on their terms and conditions etc.Thanks people x
