Just need opinions for laptop repair...?
Ok so i found a Toshiba Satellite Laptop, however it was going to the dump. The exterior looks perfectly fine, it however is missing a power cord, so just need opinions, should I buy a power cord to check it out?Im also in an ITT Network Systems class in my senior year in high school so it could help me gain experience. Just need opinions if I should just trash it or take a look into it? Thanks
Just got my laptop repaired. Should I restore the image?
The keyboard and the system board were replaced. It doesn't look like the vendor did anything with the hard drive software. My ids and pwds all work. Should I still restore from my last backup taken just before I shipped the machine to their depot ? What are the chances that they installed uninstalled anything, even though they say they did not?
Should i have my hp laptop repaired or replaced? think cost-wise. can i try something at home to fix it?
my laptop HP Pavilion dv4 1120us seems to heat up and shutdown every few hours. the fan is also very loud, and running constantly. it feels like i have to air it out or something. and i have to run it on the power cord because it barely lasts a half hour when the battery is in.

The easiest way to learn Laptop repair is to first learn the basic components of a computer. Try researching how to build a desktop. Then when you are comfortable with the easy construction techniques start learning laptop repairing by hanging around computer repair stores and just talking with the " mechanics" they will probably be happy to show you what is what and why it works if they are not too busy . I wish you well in your quest for knowledge. I also would recommend going to you tube and watching some videos they usually have alot when it comes to building computers.

Is this a fair price for a laptop repair place to charge for a backup?
I took my laptop to get repaired because it wouldn't boot and kept showing a blue error screen. The tech says it's a Windows error so he'll need to erase the hard drive and reinstall Windows, and if I want to save my data the backup will cost $99. He told me it's because " there are a lot of files" so it'll be extra work for him. The hard drive is 40GB and about 30 of those are full, which includes all the space Windows XP and the rest of the preinstalled system programs take up.
Does anyone know where to get a power connector on a laptop repaired?
I would like to drop it off in the Ridgefield CT area, but if it is cheaper I am happy to mail it off. Any suggestions? It's an HP, not that that probably matters
Laptop repair or replace?
I have a Toshiba Qomsio X305 Q701. The laptop ran great with games for at least 10 months. Then I started getting these black screen crashes. I have narrowed the problem down to video card not driver , which requires that I have a new motherboard with an integrated video card put in. That itself costing about $400. Im not sure of the additional repair cost.Is it really cheaper to get a new laptop or PC? Or is getting it repaired a good idea? I really enjoyed this laptop for months, until the problem started.I know for a fact that laptops arent the top gaming machines. But Im also looking for something under or near $1,000. but I would prefer less, if repairing what I have is better.One thing is for sure. If I got a desktop instead, I already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers from my last gaming pc that failed. Though that one lasted just less than 2 years. And it was supposed to be a great gaming desktop. I got it form CyberPowerPC. I mean, do any gaming computers ever last more than 2 years? LOL Edit Qosmio
Laptop repairs but where?
okay so i have a Toshiba laptop but just recently the AC plug got wiggly and the laptop just wont charge so i was thinking about taking it to best buy where i bought it a couple months ago to see how much it would cost to fix that small problem. Also i heard that some of the geek squad technicians are complete morons and give up after 20 minutes of not knowing what to do so they restore the system and want to charge you over $200 to back up the files but i cant risk that since i have many precious files and pictures on it. Another idea was to send it to Toshiba but i heard it takes way to long to get it fixed and i need the laptop the day after i take it because the average time to fix it is1 2 hours, My last option is going to a small computer repair business since it would be cheaper and they would more likely not go through my files or restore my laptop so tell me what your opinion is.
Is it possible to replace Laptop Bezel from a Laptop repair shop?
My frame bezel of my laptop broke yesterday, the actual laptop still works fine but the laptop can no longer support itself, i have to hold it up against something, and when i close it, the bezel gets trapped on something and it looks close to snapping... one of the hinges is really tight and because the screws have snapped off accidentally, it can barely move at all...Is this fixable? Or is it a lost cause? Would i be able to take this into comet or pc world and get the laptop repaired? It is no longer under warranty so i understand that i would be billed. Or would i have to go into a laptop repair specialists?

ok.... this just happened and im freaked out about it... a few minutes ago my laptop was working fine.... then my battery was low so the laptop shut off.... i closed the screen and went to get the charger.... before i pluged the charger in i reopened the screen i was in a dark room so i couldnt see... i heard a weird noise when i opened the laptop and the screen had dislocated itself a bit... it seems that one of the hinges went loose... thankfully when i tried turning on the laptop the screen turned on so i can still us it... but its really bad because technically this isnt my laptop but my brothers... what should i do.... can i fix it myself? which store can fix it? would it be better to just get a new laptop? i need a new one myself..... nooooooooo help me....
