Is it worthwhile to get my laptop screen repaired?

Question: Is it worthwhile to get my laptop screen repaired?

(Posted by: Scootaloo. on 2012-01-03 13:24:40)

On a trans- continental flight, my laptop (a dell inspiron) got a cracked screen due to pressure on it and turbulence. Upon the first arrival, maybe 2/ 3rds of the screen was usable. More flights damaged it further and it is at the point where the screen is completely unusable (for the meantime I am using an HDMI cable to my TV to serve as a screen). Is it worth taking it to be repaired? I spent about 800 pounds on it, and the screen is completely unusable, and was considering getting a new one if I couldn't find a way of reparation. Oh, and if you want more points, I suggest you add any names of repair businesses in the London area if you happen to know some :)

Actually taking your laptop to a repair shouldn't cost most than say 80 pounds or so. A new laptop screen is not that much by itself, plus the labor cost. I'm way over here in Southern California (wish I was in London), so I cannot help you with any good repair shops. But any large computer store should have trained technicians that can fix your screen. It's not that difficult of a job. Good Luck!

Hi...I would not get it repaired as for about the same cost you can get a new laptop

It's too bad your in London, I could fix that for you for really cheap in the US. You should look on ebay and amazon for replacement screens. I had to replace a screen on an emachines laptop and it only cost about $70 for the screen, which is much cheaper than a new computer.

Unless your laptop is worth less than 80.00 bucks, cause thats what a new screen costs.. You yourself can change that screen in no time, it;s not a big deal, just don't pay big bucks at some chain store to do it, go to a friend who knows how to use a screwdriver, cause thats all you need, go to youtube and there are hundreds of videos , take the screen out, find the model number (on the screen itself), located on back,,not the laptops model number. then replace it the same way you took it off, I have faith in you. good luck,
