With XP SP3, my laptop stands by when I shut off the power switch even though there's still some battery left!?
This only occurs when I have a battery which is not full. If my battery is full, it wouldn't cause problems. But when my battery has considerately some power left, like 50 %, WinXP still stands by when I shut off the power. It's not the alarms. And it would've hibernated if I enabled Hibernation. Any help? I want it to " stay alive" when I turn off the power switch and there's still some battery left.
Split desk laptop stands for both sides of the bed?
wife and I have two laptops she has a stand that rolls under bed that splits and holds laptop and mouse we are both right handed and for the life of me can't find a stand that puts the split for mouse on RIGHT side as I sleep on left side of bed any ideas?I saw laptop " trays" sure and yes we have the in America. However it is the split top kind that scoots under the bed I'm after.

are laptop stands necessary in order to eliminate the risk of overheating? i'm thinking about getting a macbook with the ilap but i'm not sure that i want to spend money on the ilap if i don't need it. what are you personal experiences with laptop stands and overheating? do you know of any alternatives? i heard books work well or even like a cookie rack or something

How to get my laptop stand firmly?
my friend gave me my laptop to me last friday and she says the system is working and it is a few years old, so it did but the problem is when you open the laptop it wont stand at 90 degrees it open like 180 degrees if it stands on 90 degrees it would easily closed quickly or open too wide depending on the table's angle....how can I get to that stand firmly without having any assistance like putting the laptop next to wall or someone had to hold it for a while..books doesnt seems nesscessary I wonder how to get that to fix
Laptop with broken screen hinges - any solutions i.e. laptop stand?
the screen hinges on my Toshiba Satellite 2450 laptop are broken so the screen is not supported. i have looked online and apparently i would be about 80 for new hinges, besides its just an old piece of kit so if money wasn't a problem i'd be just as well getting a new laptop. can anyone suggest where i could get a stand which would prop the screen up? or any other ideas?
What does the DATA (D:) drive on my laptop stand for?
I'm running out of room on my laptop and I'm wondering what the main purpose of my D drive is for. It has 32 gigs of free memory that I could use for better things my C drive only has one gig left ... is there any way I could access it? I have a dell xps m1530. I thought it was a pretty good computer, until I ran the empire total war demo. It ran the game on medium decent but waas sort of choppy. My specs are the following video card 8600m gt ddr3ram 4gb only 3.5 because the wonderful vista os and 16 bit system Processor 2.4 ghz duo core I really wish empire total war ran better but I guess I may have to get a better desktop to run it. How long would you expect the lifespan of my laptop to be? Thanks for your input.

I am trying to find a laptop stand to hold my computer vertical or near vertical to maximize desk space while I connect my computer to a monitor. I was looking at the Allsop Redmond Adjustable Laptop Stand, but I don't know how high up it goes. Has anyone used that stand and know how high up it goes or know a very compact one?
