Linking laptop to tv? vga to hdmi?
Hi people. I'm not great with all the technical stuff especially when it comes to cables but this should be simple. I basically want to see on my tv what I can see on my laptop so I can watch online movies and stuff. My laptop only has a vga port and my tv only has 1 hdmi port. Please pleaaaase can someone explain how I link it up? Including which cables I need to order to transfer picture and audio. Hopefully someone can help thanks Stevo

Hi..i just updated the driver for my laptop's graphics card, ATI Radeon HD5470. But since the update, i can't get the HDMI functionality to work..like i can't connect my laptop to my TV or the projector through the HDMI port since i updated my driver. so wt should i do...i have a sony vaio VPCEB34EN with 512MB ATI graphics and a core i3 370M with 3GB DDR3 RAM running a 64 bit win 7 home premium

ok so heres the story i connected my laptop acer aspire 5515 to my sony bravia tv with a vga cable. so far, the tv saids no singal, on my laptop i tryied pressing fn f4 and nothing happens. also i tried pressing the windows key p put duplicate display, extend display, it just lowered the resolution. please help i dont know what to do Also, i tried connecting my tv to my friends laptop and it worked perfectly, no wait, no hassle please respond it you only have answers also,,, my computer does detect the display but i cant change nothing in the settings for the second display.

Connecting laptop to tv ?
Hello,I want to connect my laptop to my tv screen. The tv is full HD but i aint got a s port on my laptop. I was wondering how i could make the laptop screen apeare on the tv screen basically using the tv screen as the monitor. Its not for surfing the web, you can watch movies online but its abit crap on a 16" screen thats why i want to make the movie play on the tv screen. I know i can burn movies easily but i dont download its legal to watch them online and alot less risky with viruses without downloading them.Thanks Thanks for all the replys really helpful... Ive checked and i aint got a HDMI port i have the port but nothing init. Its just filled with a rubber plug ive took the plug out and nothings in there but the motherboard. Ill go out and get a VGA cable tomorrow but how can i get the sound to come through? if someone could answer or edit there question to advise me on that would be greatly appreciated.
If I connect laptop to tv, is it still using the graphics card?
I want to play skyrim on the pc. I got a wired xbox controller, and an HDMI cable. I checked my computer's specs and the recommended min for skyrim. I have all the recommended specs for the game, but I can't tell if I have the recommended graphics card. It's a AMD 388somthing something HD something. I think. But If I connect it to my HD tv, will it use the TV's graphics instead of my computer's? Will the game run more smoothly?Sorry I can't tell you the exact name of the card, I don't have my laptop right now.

Ok I have an acer aspire 5515 and I'm trying to connect it to my Sony Bravia tv and for some reason my tv doesn't detect my laptop it's saids no signal. HDMI from laptop to TV..?
when i connect the hdmi to tv and laptop...the taskbar shows the icon of the hdmi where i can change settings....then after using it.. i think i clicked something like quit.. then the next day i tried to used it.. i noticed that the icon of hdmi dissapeared..but i can still use it...i just wanted to recover the icon on the taskbar..i dont know where to find that..not even in the customize in taskbar... should i try to system recover it.. so when i connect the hdmi it will appear again..?

Well , i recently bought a new tv 32 inch sanyo and im currently using a VGA D Sub as my cable and its a bit unsharp and im wondering if changing to HDMI will help and will it be okay when using HDMI if the TV is FULL HD 1920x1080 and my laptop is 1366x768? thanks

Hi, I have an HP G56 which has a VGA and USB output No HDMI or S VideoI have a TV which has an S Video, HDMI, and scart input. My graphics card is mobile intel 4 series express chipset family.First question is will my graphics card support TV out. The data factsheet online has a section on TV out but I can't understand what it says intel.com assets PDF datasheet 320122.pdfAlso, supposing that it does support TV out I would guess it does as it's quite new , do I just need a cable which is VGA one end and S Video the other, with a little Jack to RCA for the sound, or will the sound come through on it's own?Is there a better way of doing this eg USB to S Video? VGA to scart?many thanks

Hi All,I have been at this for awhile but it's driving me nuts.So I have an HP Persarino laptop and it has the vga cable and so does my tv which is a 42 samsung. When I hook the cables up and go to the PC source on my tv is says no signal and then goes black. I have tried changing resolution and searched many forms.Any insight would be awesome. Thanks
