Internet download speeds laptop vs desktop?
my laptop downloads at12 Mb sMy desktop with same exact wireless config downloads at 2Mb sIs there a possible Hardware item going bad in my desktop if so what.Any solution is welcome. Crazy the difference and no I cannot hook up to a hard line on my desktop.However both computers side by side receive same signal and are set up same.Thanks

More ads on my laptop vs desktop?
I have noticed significantly more advertisements at the top of the page when I do a google search, and more, larger ads when I use facebook on my laptop vs. my desktop or other computers. Does this indicate that I have a virus on the laptop? The google searches are especially annoying because they don't come up right away. The page looks like it has loaded, and then after a few seconds enough to get very close to clicking on the first search result , 3 or four ads load in the top position, and the search results move down. I have accidentally clicked on the ads a few times now because of the way it's timed, and I'm sure this is purposeful. Very annoying, what can I do?

Another thing is that i spend a lot of time at my girlfriends and it would be nice to have a laptop to take over there with me, but would the laptop overheat while playing some games like wow, because my older laptop use to overheat a lot, and i hate having the cooling pad with me.

Ok have a dell laptop and just got a desk top that my buddy built for me, Now my cousin is going to get an ipad. i really don't see the big deal about them. Ya they are cool but just like the i phone you have to go through apple for every thing. Let me know what you think

Laptop vs desktop (game design)?
I'm going into game design and I am wondering which is better. I'm getting a mac and it is the same price for a laptop with 250gb and a desktop with 1tb. I understand that the desktop might be better because it has more memory but which is better for going into game design?By the way its a Macbook Pro compared to an iMac.

Laptops vs Desktops for gaming (performance)?
I was thinking about getting a new computer and usually I use Desktops all the time as I have thought them to be better for gaming as in performance but I was wondering if I got the same spec on a laptop and a desktop, run the laptop with the charger in on settings high performance, would the desktop actually run better than it or would they run the same?Generally, would it cost much more for a laptop than a desktop of the same spec . I ain't done much research yet.

New Laptop vs Desktop?
I'm in need of a new pc mostly for gaming, 3d modelling animation maya and 3ds max , programming, developing in game engines, etc. , and I've been looking at this laptop on xoticpc xoticpc.com force 16f2012 msi 16f2 p 3376.html or the Lenovo Y580 when it comes out around May . I've also been considering building my own desktop, with something like these parts Intel i5 i7 2500k 2600kAMD Radeon HD 6850 6870G.Skill Ripjaws 8gb ramLian Li Lancool PC K63 casebut it seems that with those parts 6850 and i5 2500k , it would be around the same price as the laptop on xoticpc, so in that situation I would prefer the laptop. Is there another equivalent build I could do? Possibly get a prebuilt desktop that'd have similar specs for cheaper? Or a place to buy parts for less I've been looking on Newegg ? Or should I just buy laptop for mobility and still good performance?

Gaming Laptops VS Desktops?
I want a gaming computer that will run minecraft smoothly along with fraps and various other programs. I know it doesn't take a lot to run minecraft but I just want to be on the safe side c I would prefer a laptop but I feel that a desktop may be better. Laptop vs. Desktop (Can only use the desktop half of the time)?
Okay, so I am getting a computer, and I want to do a large amount of gaming on it. I currently have a laptop that cannot do much gaming on it at all. I mainly use it for school and browsing the internet. I would get a desktop, except that my parents are divorced so I switch houses weekly. Should I get a desktop that would only stay at one house, and I would use my laptop at my other house, or I could get a gaming laptop for more money that could replace my current laptop, and it go between houses. I am really confused here because I know the desktop is the better choice for gaming, and it can be upgraded much easier, but I can only use it half of the time. I could really use some help as either way I go, I will still be spending a lot of money. Which one should I go with?

I'm 14 and i wanna get a laptop but on the other hand i wanna build my own computer. If i build my own i can customize it but i cant take it anywhere like a laptop can. If I get a laptop i might wanna play racing games and all that. So what should i do get a laptop or maybe build my own pc and get a tablet?

I have a toshiba, and it's... eh. I've had it forever and I've had to replace the hard drive almost three times. I'm saving up for a new gaming computer, I'm tired of my 360. I LOVE desktops and i'd prefer to get one for gaming, but I don't know where I'd put it. I love having the freedom to move around. I usually don't move my laptop too much, but I'm afraid that if I get a desktop I'll miss having that freedom. Can you get custom laptops made... like you could a PC? I heard they're the cheapest and run the fastest. I've also looked into alienware, but I'm not quite sure... they are pretty expensive. I figured if I'm saving up for a gaming computer, I want it to be a GOOD one. So I might have to save up for a while... lol. anyway, to wrap it up desktop or PC for the best gaming? should I get a custom laptop.PC made? are they cheaper? what's the best type of graphics card for gaming?
