Purchasing laptop vs ipad?
Hi,I'm a sophomore in high school and I write quite a bit school work, short stories, etc. . Currently, the only computer present in our house is a iMac, which has to be shared between five people.Given that I write a lot, I tend to monopolize the computer, and usually have to resort to carrying bulky notebooks and longhand any time I go somewhere else. Consequently, I do have some sort of need or maybe just want? for a laptop.However, I have run into a predicament. I would be purchasing a macbook pro, which start at a $1200, a sum I am currently quite incapable of reaching, even by the end of the summer, should my financial situation remain where it stands right now no job, although I will be payed to play instruments at our farmers market over the summer . I would also be worried about said laptop not being able to carry me through the rest of high school and college.Which is where the ipad comes into play. As it is cheaper, it would be much easier for me to purchase and maintain on my own. Should it last long enough, it may be possible to supplement the current computer until I leave for college and do purchase a laptop.Basically, what I see now, is that I would be able to write on the ipad when I did not have access to the computer. I could bring it on weekend trips and the like and still be able to work on essays.Would this be a feasible idea, in your opinion? Or would my money be better spent saving for a macbook pro? My older sister, who purchased her macbook in her sophomore year of HS, will soon be in need of a new one as a college sophomore , making me somewhat wary of this.

Laptop vs Ipad 1 vs Ipad 2 vs Asus eee transformer?
I was more looking into a tablet because I have a LOT of pdfs to read textbooks, journals etc and I get really lazy and distracted on the desktop. My pdfs use colour and hence i don't want to get the kindle and I also like to read with a larger screen.I was first thinking the Ipad 1 coz it has everything I need and a little more BUT for an etc 100 or 150 i can get the Ipad 2 which is a LOT faster and offers a LOT more.But then again I started thinking that the price range wouild be around 500 600 and that is almost the same price as a laptop. I could use a laptop and still have more capability and power coming from it but it beats the essence of flexibility.Then i saw the Asus transformer for 399. It's cheaper then most tablets with a lot more functions and I figure its a good product when it comes to bang for buckIf you have any experience with any of the tablets coz i know laptops are always being used can you compare and tell me what you think is the better option? Okay so i'm looking to buy a laptop most likely NOT a mac. Something more affordable and sturdy like a Toshiba But a lot of people got me considering a ipad. Its got nearly all the same features and capabilities as a mac and all that jazz. My concerns involve the fact that I travel so size and accessibility is important. Also, the ipad still relies on a laptop which I can't afford both for synching, or an I mistaken? So my question is... which do would you prefer, why, and maybe tutor me a little more on the ipad? Suggestions as far as laptops maybe?Yeah, the laptop was what I wanted in the first place... but others kept telling me I could do all the same stuff on the ipad...I disagreed but then I don't know the full capabilities of the ipad.

Mac laptop vs. iPad 2?
I'm getting ready to buy either a MacPro or Air Book OR an iPad 2, but I am torn. Please help I need it for traveling local for homeschool specifically reading, gaming, working with photos. I cannot decide which to buy. If I buy the iPad 2 should I get the larger storage with no plans on upgrading for at least 5 year? Mac books are so much money, will the iPad 2 suffice? Money is not an issue, but if I'm going to get the same bells and whistles, why not an iPad? Expert advice needed.pros consThanks Apple lovers

I'm a 10th grader looking for a relatively cheap laptop $800 max for school. I was looking, and all laptops at my price range are sucky, so i was wondering, how does the iPad work for such tasks? My greatest worry about the iPad is the virtual keyboard being hard to type on. Opinions???emphasis $800.00 MAX

I'm trying to decided weather to get a laptop or a iPad or a netbook.. Which one do you think is better and why?I'm not planning on doing a TON of work on it. Mostly just things like email, facebook, youtube, things like that. Would something cheaper like a notebook be better? Or something like a laptop with more space and power?
