Best: Cheap laptop vs netbook?
What would be better for just internet and typing on Microsoft Office Excel and word? A cheap laptop or a netbook?i already have a full size laptop, but im going on trips where i cant bring something that valuable and heavyi'd like under 5 lbs

Laptop vs. Netbook budget-wise?
I am thinking of getting either a laptop for myself for Christmas. I've seen a laptop for $350 with 2gb ddr, AMD Athlon 64 1.6ghz processor, and a 160gb hard drive I think . I'd rather have the laptop since I could burn cd's dvd's. Would a lesser build laptop be better than a netbook or what? I will be putting photos on it, do some minor editing, and have some music on it etc. I'm not into gaming, so my needs are not so pressing. I'd appreciate the best input... with 10 points coming.

So all I really use my current laptop for is just to watch movies and plug in my iPod into iTunes. But the backlight went out and I needed a new one anyways. A Netbook is more in my price range and my mother is thinking about getting one too so that she can learn how to use the computer and to use it just to chat with family and check her bank statements. So I was thinking that we just share the external hard drive. But some people are telling me that I might as well just get a laptop. Which one is better for me? And when choosing the laptop Netbook what are some good things to look for? I've heard that I got to look for the processor and stuff like that. Please help... I would ask people at the store but I'm afraid they will try to get me to get an expensive one for nothing.

Laptop vs Netbook for College Computer Science Major?

Laptop vs. Netbook. Which is better for school?
I'm starting school next summer and I need something that has a long battery life but it will only be used strictly for school work. I love my desktop but I will be traveling a lot on the weekends and I need to take something with me to do school work. I just need it for papers, research, notes. Would the netbook be better, or will I be better off getting a laptop? I really like the idea of stuffing a netbook into a purse or an overnight bag. Anyone have any personal experience with both? If so could you list the pros and cons of each.I understand that they are over all smaller than a standard laptop, that doesn't bother me. Lack of a CD Drive would bother me, could I import the files from a flash drive?

Pros and Cons: Laptop VS. Netbook (mini laptop)?
I don't use a computer very much, but I have an EXTREMELY old computer and wanted to maybe upgrade.I do have an Ipod so I would need storage on my computer of some kind, but really not too much.I tend to delete stuff I don't use after a month or so like pictures or old files..I don't really know anything about computers so if you do explain.. try not to use too much computer lingo.I do have wifi and internet cable.. my bills could be much cheaper if I were to just use my wifi and pay for cheap cable.. so buying a laptop or netbook could be budget friendly in the long run.I don't play games or really install anything.. must haves is AIM, internet obviously , enough storage for my ipod 8gb whatever that means , and maybe some room for some pictures.Thanks for any help
