Question: Help me pick the best laptop?
(Posted by: Alice on 2010-03-09 19:46:46)
It's for my dad. His dinosaur laptop finally broke and he's so sad. So we're going laptop shopping. He LOVES to go on youtube to watch videos, he likes to surf the web mainly (craigslist), and listen to music. He doesn't really download music. Just listens to it from youtube and such. From the link below can you tell me which would be the best laptop. Thank you so much. http:/ / www.costco.com/ Common/ Category.aspx?whse=BC &Ne=5000000+4000000 &eCat=BC|84 &N=4017745 %205000014 &Nr=P_CatalogName:BC &Ns=P_Price|0||P_SignDesc1 &lang=en- US &topnav= |

I would go with the HP Q60T. It has the best hardware. If he prefreres to watch YouTube videos in HD, then he will need a good processor and graphics, which the Q60T. The only cons with HP is that it comes with lots of pre-installed programs. This easy to fix, and will only take 10 mins or so uninstalling them |

I'll try and make this as user friendly as possible - FYI - If all he does is view utube then I would recommed buying a basic laptop without all the bells and whistles i.e, add-ons, extra warranty, more ram extra large HD, extra programs etc. Even a refurbished (used)one with just basic win 7 and anti virus. If he pays bills on line I would also get a decent Anti virus program (AVG has a free one), and in todays economy I would also lobby that you should try to get one that says "assembled in USA " they are'nt that hard to find and cosco's has a few. If anyone tells you usa made doesn't matter than they don't care about Americans or support american workers- but I digress. Also, their are "bare bones " and refurbed laptops at geeks.com which have just a basic laptop with an OS and all hte extras aren't there like word, excel, dvd burn software, anti virus, etc. that is where you will save money. Just beware when you go to pay for it, that's usually when they bundle all hte bs in htere and don't forget to look for usa assembled! Good luck! |
