Hey, what is good laptop?

Question: Hey, what is good laptop?

I'm a college student, and I'm looking for a laptop. I want one that will be good for my school work and for entertainment, ie. movies music and games. If possible can anyone recommend one for under $700? btw I'm not looking for a netbook.

Get a Mac, unless you want a computer that will die just when you don't want it to, or will get viruses and spyware and malware and and and... Get a Mac!

I got a HP G60 and it works great! When I got mine it had the newest update for windows 7 and its really fast! But since I got it for X-mas I dont know what the price was sorry, but I am pretty shure it was under 700$

I must respectfully disagree with the first poster. There is nothing wrong with Macs, however they tend to run more expensive than PCs for no added benefit. Poster claims PCs break down more, but that depends on who puts the thing together - it doesn't break down just because it's a PC. As for malware..... just use common sense protective measures, which you should do regardless of what platform you're on. Plus if you want to game, most video games will not run on macs without emulation, which will give you a performance hit if it works at all. As for specs: for your general schoolwork you don't need anything special. Get a processor with at least two cores, about 4GB of RAM, a modestly-sized hard drive (around 320GB should be fine unless you plan on storing a lot of movies ad stuff on the drive itself.) etc etc. However if you want to actually hold your movies on the computer then get a bigger hard drive..... at least one TB, more if you can afford it. And for gaming you're going to need a lot heftier equipment: a processor with at least four cores, as much RAM as you can get your hands on, and most importantly a dedicated name-brand graphics card. the exact specs will depend on just exactly which games you intend to play.

Take a look at the Toshiba T135-S1309. It's $529 at Best Buy. It's got a 13.3 " screen, stellar 8 hour battery life, and only weights 3.9 pounds. I bought it 2 months ago and love it. The only thing about it is the average track pad. I usually use a wired mouse if I'm surfing for any longer length of time so that doesn't really matter. Check it out.
