Ok, i had this problem before with my cousin. The easiest way is to buy a fan for the notebook. It easily fits under the notebook and cools it down really easy so it does not overheat. I have a source that you can get an idea from. |

Check to see that your built-in fans are still giving you some air flow. Also make sure there's not an excess of dust inside. Make sure the portable is turned off completely and disconnected from power, then hit every port you can see with a duster (do not spray in a manner that makes it liquid). If that doesn't work, advise the point-of-purchase that you're having dangerously excessive heat issues and see if they can help you. |

Uhm, if you have a Dell Inspiron it will do that. It's a really crappy computer. But if you don't have that computer, then you should try keeping it off surfaces, or leave the back propped up so it can get cool air. Also, is your computer old? because that can cause problems too. If it persists, take it in and get it fixed. |

If this is an older laptop, then it's just likely that either the fan has failed, or that the air ducts are clogged up. I would take it to a store and have them open it up to check and see if it just needs a good cleaning out. |

Make sure the vents are not being blocked by anything. Make sure the laptop is on a solid surface. Make sure the fans are cleaned. Try to run your laptop with less amounts of programs and processes. Good luck! |
