How can i tell if laptop still has a blue ray drive?

Question: How can i tell if laptop still has a blue ray drive?

(Posted by: victor c on 2010-09-03 21:43:14)

I was given a laptop that had a blue ray dvd drive ( sticker says ). The person who had it before, may have swapped the drive out. How can I tell if its a blue ray drive? The laptop was reformatted, operating system=vista ultimate. When I put a blue ray movie it only opens it as files. Does not seem to play back up dvd but does play original dvd movies. I updated drivers to see if drive would see blue ray discs but no luck. Drive shows up as :DVD RW Drive(G) when a blue ray movie is in the drive it shows up like: DVD RW Drive(G) LOGICAL_VOLUME_ID. Under the drive properties it says MATSHITA BD- MLT UJ- 220S ATA under Device Device type: DVD/ CD- ROM drives manufacture: (standard CD- ROM drives) Location:Location 0 (channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0)

You have Blu-ray drive but i think the driver got messed up or some fixing needed there is lot of complaints of this problem Do you have most current version (iTunes*7.6.2 ) as previous versions may not be completely compatible with Vista? WinDVD BD for VAIO is a joke BTW, lose it and get a full version.I recommend ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre.Hope it helps!!! Blu - ray is the correct term. Blue Ray doesn't exist. Please get it right.

If it didn't have a blu-ray drive it couldn't read the disc. You need blu-ray software.
