It depends what you will use it for.... if you wanna go cheap and just do easy stuff like word and internet... go with pc if you dont care about spending 1444$ get a macbook pro... it wll help u with graphics classes and ect.

It is all personal preference. Get whichever one you are more comfortable with. Mac is slightly more secure then PCs on average. Mac also doesn't have any viruses currently (this will likely change as they get more and more popular). One thing to take note of though is that even though Macs are getting more popular a lot of software just isn't available for them yet and some of your books and such may come with CD/ DVD software that just won't work on the Mac. You can of course install Windows on it but that adds even more cost to the Mac purchase. This may or may not occur to you and you could always use your colleges computer lab if it does but still, it is a possible concern. In the end though a computer is a computer. They do similar things.

I would go with the mac. I bought a mac before going to college five years ago and it still works the same as the day I got it. Also you don't have to worry about viruses on a Mac like you do with a PC. It's just not an issue.

As stated above, it is mostly preference. If you want something that will give you little problems, and is easy to use, Mac users will tell you to buy a Mac. If you are already familiar with Windows, get a PC. Do some research and pricing, you will find deals at places, like Best Buy. Don't buy a laptop from Wal Mart.
