Question: Compaq mini laptop repair?

My little brother just got a new Compaq mini laptop for Christmas, and he dropped it in the floor (on complete accident) the computer still works, but there is a big gray box on the side of the screen. Any ideas on what is wrong with it, and can it be fixed?

Can you change it for a new one if their is no damage marks like dents deep scratches, then I would take it back and exchange it and tell the store that it has developed a fault on the screen you should not get any problem or phone COMPAQ if you have there number thell them that it has developed a fault and ask their advice I hope this helps this is what Iwould do

Telling Compaq that it developed a fault is dishonest and unfair to the business. HP/ Compaq isn't dumb and they can tell whether the computer has suffered damage from abuse and negligence. It seems to me that the problem with the laptop is that the screen broke. You will need to purchase a new LCD screen for that specific model of laptop.
