Windows 7 starter doesn't support changing the desktop background, you have to install a separate program such as Stardock MyColors or Samurize to change the background or upgrade to windows 7 home premium if you upgrade, i suggest you max the ram to 2GB, get a ready-boost capable flash drive to supplement the installed ram, and increase the HD virtual memory(aka paging files, area of the hard drive the PC uses instead of ram) to about 3000MB Good Luck EH EDIT well, you have to buy the upgrade, but if you open your control panel, one of the icons should be windows upgrade assistant, not sure if its called that exactly, but its usually in the last row of icons, towards the right end of the row, it will tell you how to purchase and upgrade to windows 7 home premium |

Find a step by step tutorial to change your background, if it did not chaning by right clikng on a picture and "set to background " sevenforums.com/ tutorials/ 281-desktop-background-change.html If you have windows XP try this To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display Click a picture in the Background list. In Position, click Center, Tile, or Stretch You can use a personal picture as a background. All of your personal pictures located in My Pictures are listed by name in the Background list. Click Browse to search for a background picture in other folders or on other drives. You can use files with the following extensions: .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .dib, .png, .htm. In Position, click Center, Tile, or Stretch. Regards |

If you have windows 7 starter version you can't change the background unless you upgrade to home premium. |
