If suddenly my laptop just shuts off what could be wrong?

Ok so i keep running a virus scan on my laptop and before its done my laptop just shuts off...why?
im getting very mad. and my boyfriend doesnt know why either...can you help??

While playing a computer game, my laptop just shuts off without warning. Whats going on?
I downloaded a computer game to my Dell studio 15 and using virtual clone drive, I mounted the game. When I play the game, the laptop randomly shuts off without warning. The time varies...sometimes i can play the game for 30 mins before it shuts down....sometimes i can only play for 2 mins before it shuts down. When I turn the computer back on after it automatically shuts down it usually " blue screens" on me and restarts itself before i can even log into my profile. The game is old...much older than my computer so I dont think it as much to do with the computer not achieving the required specs of the game. But I could be wrong. Can anyone give some suggestions and help me out? Its appreciated.

I was just running a gamming program and then it shuts off, almost like their was a power outage for a desktop but on a laptop, The charger was in all day so it dident run out of battery, but when it shut off the charger light was not on. It was on before. The bottom of the computer is really hot, so i think it over heated, but it wont turn back on, how long should i wait for it to be better, and is their any perment damage?

my laptop just total shuts off with out warning like a total black out. Sometimes it takes several pushes of the power button to get it to start. is this a mother board problem or some type of virus?

hello i need help figuring out what the hell is wrong with my acer aspire 5920 its really new and the damn thing shuts off on a full charged battery alone if its plugged in no problem but if just on battery it shuts off after a few min ....now the battery holds a full charge but if i open a folder or click on internet explorer its poof off dont get it at all please let me know what i can do before i send it away and i never see it again for months on in .......

hi, i have a compaq laptop and its just really starting to annoy me. the other night i was watching a movie on it and all of the sudden the screen turned black although the power light was still one and it was plugged in charging and it wouldn't go back on. since then its just been turning off whenever it wants. i ran malewarebytes and it came up with nothing. umm sometimes it wont let me load windows task manager and wont log off and only really works if i start it in safe mode. im using vista if that helps. any advice? is it a virus? is it overheating? whats going on?

Why does my Laptop just shut off?
This happens alot but always not at the same time. Last night it did it time after time. The computer is fairly new less or about a year old , and its a Compaq laptop. I think it may have overheated a few times cause I rarely shut it down. I have cooled it down and am going to buy a fan if that is the case. Could this be the power source problem? Although it is new, if it is a power source problem, how much would it cost to fix it??

It has done this twice in a couple of days. The adapter is plugged in, so it can't be the battery. While I'm using it, it just shuts off without any warning and then I have to manually restart it. Any ideas??

I have a Dell Inspiron mini, and I have a problem with it. My first problem was that my power cord was chewed on a bit by my cats and I had to situate my cord just right for it to work, so the cord would be off, then on, then off, then on, like I was plugging it in and out of my computer all the time, but obviously I had the charge to back it up. The cord problem is being fixed and I'm using a back up one for now. But a few days ago whenever the power cord would go out my computer would just shut off unexpectedly, the charge didn't do anything. Why is this?

I tried everything I held the button for 30secs took the battery out, took out the charger and nothing worked I waited for 2 days thinking it would come on. When I plug the charger in the Charging light came on, the dvd disc thing won't even open. I really need some help, School starts 2morrow and I need it.
