I need a laptop or netbook for college. It will not replace my desktop. Basically I need it to do homework while I am at work. It needs to be able to have Microsoft Office and Internet on it also a USB drive so I can back everything up. Other then that I don't care what's on it. I was looking at the 99.99 ones you can get but I don't know if it can run Office programs. My budget is $400 but I would like to get one for less. The cheaper the better.

I have a full size laptop right now but it has all sorts of problems doesn't recognize the wireless card so I have to have an external one, keeps giving me the blue screen of death . I am looking into getting a new laptop, but I am wondering if the netbooks are a better choice for my needs.I have an iPad and use this for a lot of my computer needs, but I do need the actual computer for management of music video pictures books for the iPad. Also, I do download some things and need the computer for this too.I'm not sure if a netbook would be able to support my computer needs because they seem to be on the lower end of all the specs hard drive, memory, processor and all that stuff .Also, the iPad is what I would travel with, so the size isn't really the main issue with the netbook.Are there better netbooks out there, specs wise, that aren't super expensive? Or am I better off just getting another laptop?

I am debating between a netbook and a laptop computer for my first year of college I am commuting from home, and have a desktop to use at home . I mostly want to use the netbook or laptop for when I am away from home, like if I have a couple hours of time to kill in between classes, so I can work on research or a project or something. The netbook I am looking at is a Toshiba , and has 1GB memory and 250 GB hard drive. It includes Office Starter, but I want to be able to install a FULL version of Microsoft Office home and student 2010 on it, so that I can do powerpoint, excel, etc as well as word documents.Based on what I said my needs and wants were, do you think a netbook or laptop is better for me? I like the portability of a netbook and the price I can only spend about $600 if I get a laptop , but I want to make sure it's reliable, and that it can handle the full version of office without slowing it down.
