can someone please tell or try to tell me why theres no sound on my laptop? its a sony vaio, idk what year though. please answeriv'e tried the volume control but still nothing and the button is there. i think it does have a sound card but idk.how do i know if it's the driver?

1 I had no sound on laptop speakers but did on headphones2 i restarted the laptop and now both laptop speakers and headphones work3 the newest drivers were installed for the speakers as i went into device manager4 all volumes were turned up and none were muted.5 when no sound was coming out of laptop speakers, i went to control panel and sound and it said speakers were working?please help, what went wrong and now that i have restarted it, the sound works

The laptop's sound was fine until it just stopped working. Nothing was done to probably disable it. The volume isn't on mute and I've checked the sound hardware and everything was working fine. We already had the sound fixed by a technician but after about a week, the sound was lost again. About a week ago, when I turned on the laptop, the sound came back. After about three days, it wouldn't work again. Is there anything else I can do about it?

Hi, I have a hp pavillion dv9843cl. I replaced the motherboard because it broke but the person who replaced it installed vista 32bit on it while mine was 64bit before. Everything seems to work fine except for the sound. The driver is working correctly, there's sound in the bios when i press a button, but there's no sound from my laptop. I can see the sound icon, I tried everything to make it work. I downgraded the driver and upgraded it several times and i updated my graphic cards driver. Please help

No sound on laptop after sudden reboot?
Alright, so this problem just started suddenly on my windows laptop. I went through windows help, and they couldn't help me.I turned my computer on, it suddenly shut down and restarted for whatever reason. Now the sound only works if I plug my headphones in...the speakers SAY that they're working the bar goes up and down , but no sound actually comes out of the speakers.

On my sony vaio laptop there is no sound most probably due to the small gold looking chip coming out so I'm guessing that without that touching another wire inside the computer my sound won't work? Is their any way to get it too work without getting it repaired eg, sticking something in it so it touches the wire?
