I tried to reinstall Windows XP on my old laptop using the winnt32.exe file, but why didn't the files get...?
wiped out? I wanted it to delete all the files because the laptop is slow as hell.What CD do you mean?
Why does my older laptop use more bandwidth than a brand new one?
I have a Dell Inspirion 700m, it runs XP, which I bought in 2005. I can't understand why it uses up so much Internet. I've used newer computers, a HP with Vista, and a Toshiba with Windows 7, and they use up much less bandwidth than mine. I can spend 5 hours and use up 25mb total on the newer ones where as on mine I spend more than twice that in 30minutes. Is there a way to fix this? Is it XP or perhaps because my computer is out of date? Anything you can tell me would be helpful. Thanks.

I can't install MS-DOS 6.22 on my older laptop using setup floppies?
I have a Toshiba 1800 laptop. It had XP as it's main OS before I did a complete format of the Hard drive rendering it completely empty. Now I want to install MS DOS 6.22 because I just want to use it to run older games but every time I try using the setup disks I get an error message saying " Remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart" .I don't get it because I used the right files but the computer doesn't see it as bootable. I tried using an MS DOS 6.22 boot disk which I copied and extracted to a floppy disk to boot into MS DOS 6.22 then insert the setup disks but then when I got into the setup to start it I kept getting messages saying " Insert Setup Disk 1" . That really confuses me because the disk I inserted is disk 1.Another website told me that I have to use LABEL.EXE to change the name of the floppy drive to DISK 1 and I tried that and it still doesn't work.
My Older Laptop uses a regular phone cable to get to the net. is there a conveter i can use to use the modem 1
My laptop has a contor to use only a phone cable for the net. But is there a converter Connecter i can use to use the Modem Cable? You know, The other Kind of internet cable?

my girlfriends mother plays wow and raids constantly. she is running a g5 mac with a huge screen and is connected directly. I have a toshiba satellite L305 and my girlfriend has a 4 5 year old mac mini. Mine and my girlfriends computers use wireless to connect. Lately her mother has been saying that my laptop is the cause of the loss of bandwith but the most extreme thing I do is watch videos on hulu. Sometimes I download movies at the same time but I cannot imagine that would take up more than wow especially on a screen as large as hers 40 inch widescreen Could it be because I have a PC and the other computers in the house are MACs? A guy from the Mac store came out and told her mother that if there was one computer on the network with an old modem than it would bog the whole network down. If anyone can help me it would be nice to be able to get her to stop blaming me for her gaming interuptions and with the wow community, the game is life and not bieng able to play would be very bd. lol
Can I install Vista on my old laptop using the key from my new laptop?
Ok I have a new laptop right now and it has the key underneath and I was wondering if I was to download vista and try to install it on my old laptop which had XP, would I be able to use the same CD key? Someone told me the key on my new laptop is registered on it so I can't. Is that true?

How to restore functionality to old laptop using windows 7?
I have an old inspiron E1505 and the main issue is my touchpad. My buttons for clicking don't work so i use to use synaptics to work around that. Now I've had problems installing any sort of synaptics. that's actually the only issue. my old XP install had a bug with the laptop lid closing, but windows 7 fixed that.In response to the first answer received, I have tried to install drivers for everything that needed it already and this synaptics driver is the last problem. there is a program I used on windows xp called Twofingerscroll and you could use two fingers to scroll and right click, which was perfect. If I install windows xp mode on windows 7, would it work? I don't know how to install windows xp mode either..
