What is currently the longest lasting i7 quad core laptop in terms of battery life?
I don't care about price, the size should be 15.6 inch or less, and shouldn't weight any more than 6 lbs.

Why is my quad core laptop so slow?
I have an ASUS N61Jq Series laptop. It has an i7 q720 160 GHz processor, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, and a Radeon HD 5730 1GB graphics card and it's running Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. So, it sounds like a good laptop, no? But the problem is that it's slo. I have no idea why. It's really weird, because when I look at task manager, I see that I'm not using a lot of CPU each core has 2 virtual cores so I see 8 virtual cores and the total is always like at 3 % even when it's lagging , the highest it usually gets to is like 30 % and that's usually a spike i.e. it doesn't last long at 30 % . You might think the memory is the culprit, since that's usually what you tell someone who's computer is going slow, but my memory is constantly at 2GB. It has gone above 2GB, but it doesn't seem to go much above 2. So, it doesn't seem to be the memory or the processor. Another possible culprit could be the hard drive, but I run programs like Mathematica, for example, where I do heavy computations so I imagine those are accesses to memory, rather than the hard drive . I updated my BIOS a week ago.At a given time I might have a lot tabs open in Firefox, Mathematica, a programming IDE, windows media player, and some folders open. I wouldn't think that's a lot for a laptop like this to handle. Each 1.6 GHz core, by the way, has Turbo Boost, which supposedly could make each one run at 2.4GHz by overclocking if necessary, so the CPU has the potential to go pretty fast, but it doesn't I think my laptop's just lazy. Help. I have it set to Performance already, and it's a fairly new laptop. Like 10 months, probably. I bought it on eBay The air vents are clean, although it does get really hot. I run Avast Hmmm.. I guess it's possible I might have a virus. That's a good point. I should look more into that.lol, I said 160 GHz. I mean 1.6 GHz, of course. No my programs open ok. But when the programs are running they slow down. Like when I use mathematica and tell it to do some complicated computation, or when my IDE is compiling, it might seem to struggle, it's when the programs are actually running that they have the problem, so I don't think it's the hard drive, but it's a possibility.I also simulate a microcontroller for school projects and such, and that seems to go pretty slow compared to other computers that I've seen run it.

i need 2 buy a laptop , should i just buy a core 2 duo or but quad core laptop.

How do I use the webcam on my Acer Aspire 17.3" 7551-7422 quad core laptop?

Why aren't the Intel quad core laptop chips taking off?
I noticed a few months ago the quad core chips came out, but since then it seems like they're being put in fewer and fewer laptops. Dell seems to have scrapped theirs altogether, and HP only offers them in a couple models. Is there some reason they seem to be avoiding these faster chips?Wait, you mean applications can't use quad core? I thought it was as simple as more chips more processing power.Frank, That's the laptop I was looking at, they're down to $1k now. My concern is HP ranks low in quality 1 out of 4 don't last 2 years . But they have GREAT screens as does Dell and I'm looking to do graphics works. So, do I get the quad core on a risky machine or get a duo that will be obsolete once the quads become commonplace???Frank, Corretion, it was the 1.6mhz quad that's become cheap. Your price is right for the faster speed.

Should i get a quad core laptop or dual core laptop?
Was going to get a laptop with a 2430m i5 up to 3ghz 540m Nvidia graphics card and 4gb ram. I found one with a i7 and 2gb more ram. Its out of my price range but do i need to wait to get a quad core i7? I want my laptop to last 3 4 years, in the future id be into editing HD video, multitasking, and maybe programming robot movements for my robotics class, and gaming but graphics card is the most important in that aspect. So am i safe with a i5 2.4 to 3ghz dual processor???

Best quad core laptop(s)?
Going off to college soon, and I need to buy a laptop. I want something that will last me for a long time. I'm not bringing my desktop, so I'll need to rely on my laptop for PC gaming. That means that this thing has to be a quad core that can run Battlefield 3 and similar games, when they come out. Looking for something under $2000, preferably.

What do you think about the Sony VAIO 16.4" Intel Core i7 740QM Quad-Core Laptop?
I want a fast computer that will last me for at least 3 years, will this laptop get the job done? Has any body experienced this laptop? What did you think about it?

Quad core laptop with slower CPU speed?
I see a great deal on a quad core laptop. The problem is at quad core it is clocked at 1.5GHZ. Most laptops I am looking at in this price range end up being a dual core at 2.2 or 2.4 GHz. What would the benefits cons of having more cores at a slower speed be at this pont?I know more cores is good for multi tasking and lowering heat. But i am still having a hard time wrapping my mind around how more cores benefits a machine at a lower clock speed? Would this setup essentially run equal or greater than a dual core at 2.2 GHz? How would the cores combine if, say, I was running a game that required higher processing power? Would only one core work with it, or would they combine to make a 4 Ghz speed? If I had 12 cores at .5GHz, would that be better than a quad core or six core processor at a higher speed? How do cores reduce heat if they're still all on the same processor chip?

When are the quad-core laptops with DDR3 memory(ram) going to be mass released to the public?
Dual core laptops with DDR2 memory ram are now being offered with 3 & 4GB of ram and larger hard drives 250 320GB . They must be clearing their inventory out to make room for the new quad core operating systems, new solid state hard drives with no moving parts allowing them to run cooler and weigh less. They become virtually shock resistant and saves power giving longer battery life. When is the release date for the stampede by the pc makers for the U.S. market for this new pc desktop & laptop already stockpiled and ready for release? Anyone want to let the cat out of the bag for the good of the now exploited pc buyer?

Quad Core laptop for under $1000?
Are there any good laptops preferably a gaming laptop that are quad core and or i7 for a decent price? I was hoping to go under $1000 but up to $1500 is fine too. I was also looking for a screen size of 16 18 in and blu ray capabilities. Please include websites if possible.

Estimations on the release of a Quad-Core Laptop?
Eurocom's Phantom supposedly has a motherboard capable, but they are not offering the chip with a build yet.It will more than likely be Rock Direct, Eurocom, or Sager. I hear end of 2008, but I was wondering what others heard. The heat and memory limitation almost make it pointless to have 4 processors...or so I would think. Sager already has the Extreme Edition running in one of their's. It only weighs 12 pounds.
