Question: Problems with my internet connection on my sony laptop. please help!?

I turned the internet wireless on, but on the screen, where it should show the number of bars my connection is, it either just shows it loading or it shows a box with a plug in cable next to it. i cant turn on the internet and im super pissed.

With some laptops, you have to press a button to connect with the modem. Like sync-ing your X-box controller with the X-box. Have a gander and see if there is a button or option on the laptop.
