It depends. You can get a Western Digital Caviar 250Gb 2.5 " drive for about £45, cheaper if you do a bit of looking. You can replace the drive yourself, and it is very easy BUT you'll need to know which type of HD to get. They come in two flavours IDE (old technology) or SATA(P) (newer technology). If you don't have a recovery disc you'll need to research Drive Ghosting/ Backup so all your data will be cloned on to the new disc. If you have an installation disc then change the boot order in the BIOS to CD/ DVD as 1st boot device, pop the disc in, reboot and away you go. You might want to get a suitable USB HD enclosure for you old drive (if it still works) so you can copy anything important across. Have fun!! |
