Question: I have a hdd with xp on it but the drivers for a sony laptop. i want to put it in a gateway w/out reinstalling?

Can i somehow update the drivers for the gateway while still in the sony then just install it in the gateway and go or do i have to do a full reinstall?

You'll have to reinstall. It has so many hooks into the sony hardware, it would be like taking the brain out of an octopus and implanting it into a dog.
